Why cant i play online??

I have MTW VI 2.01 and have registerd on gamespy, yet every time i try to log on i get invalid CD key regardles of wether i try my VI key or my orgonal MTW one. any ideas anyone??? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif

A couple of things to check:

-- You said VI 2.01 so be sure you are using the CD key for your VI game, not your original MTW game.
-- Make sure you use all caps
-- Make sure you get your O (ohs) and your 0 (zeros) correct.
-- Hit enter when done inputting the key.
-- Log in and start the game using the game interface instead of gamespy arcade.

...and keep trying, mine seldom works from the first try, but usually works out in the 2nd or 3rd attempt...(the error varies, either invalid cdkey, or login, etc).

Do i need to log into my gamespy account before i try and do ith through MTW?

When at Multiplayer menu in the game, first choose Register on Gamespy. This will set your login name and e-mail address. You only need to do this once. Once this is finished, choose Play on Gamespy. Enter same e-mail addy, Online name, and password that you used when you registered on Gamespy. Down below, enter your CD key. Once everything is entered correctly, hit continue, and you will be taken to the logon screen. You will only need to enter that info once. In the future, just choose Multiplayer, then Play on Gamespy, then Continue....

Got it Working today, man i suck playing real people i've been getting hammerd all day. Its a lot different to playing the AI
