View Full Version : Gates of Troy masters stolen?
Has anyone heard anything about this? Its the new game from Slitherine, using an updated Spartan engine. A friend on mine said he thinks the GM disks have been stolen from the factory he works at. I can't believe it, so soon after all the Half Life 2 problems
I've seen how Spartan plays and I dont like it. Its like a very, very poor imitation of what Rome:Total War will be. Too small battle field and uncontrollable troops (just give them orders). The range of unit movement in the campaign map reminds me of the old XCOM game, like time-units (which was cool, btw). Gates of Troy would be a major overhaul indeed if someone wanted it bad enough to steal a copy.
I take it that's a no then, you know nothing :)
You need to compare Spartan to Civ more than TW, its that sort of game not an RTS really. I can see how the lack of control doesn't work for some people, but doesn't really bother me - it lets you concentrate more on the high level strategy and worry less about fast reactions.

Googling it turns up nothing official:
http://www.google.com/search?....+stolen (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=gates+of+troy+stolen)
so your friend may be the only source of info on this. Hope it's untrue - ultimately the increased security game makers will have to employ will likely increase the price of games to those of us willing to obtain our product the legal way.
Looks like there is something to it :(
