Grand Inquisitors...

I have just managed to burn two (not-so-)Holy Roman Emperors with my 6-star grand inquisitor in my Italian campaign. Who needs assassins, when you can just waltz in and try and execute annoying enemy leaders (doesn't work vs. Orthodox or Muslim, though).

6*, yep. you'll burn just about anything with that guy.

they are definitely preferable to assasins for target catholics.

Everytime I tried burning the Pope with my 6 star inquisitor, I could never get over 9% success message. (and the Pope had only 2 crosses for piety) I'd still try but always fail and would end up giving the Pope some virtues i.e. pious, devout, etc. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Try using more than one inquisitor, sometimes you'll have to use 5-6 4* Grand Inquisitors to burn the man. Sometimes even that won't be enough.

try again and he'll often get atheist which is -8.

even born again is only +6 so atheist and born again adds to -2, making the current 2 piety fella 0 piety.

also, use inqs in packs and let him stay in the province a bit to stir up the populace before the frying. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

i have another question concerning inquisitors...

what do they do, if they don't burn generals?
do they increase the number of catholics in a province?
what happens if an inquisition gets out of control? i know, some poor inhabitants get killed, but are there any effects on happiness or other provincial stats?

Inquisitor's will increaes zeal if their not burning generals. They won't gain valor though, to do so they need to burn people http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I don't know if they increase the number of catholics but like bishops and cardinals they will increase the zeal of catholics. Do not place inquisitors and bishops in the same province they sort of cancel each other out. A better combo is bishops and spies in a non catholic province, and inquisitors and spies in a catholic province.

Usually when a inquisition gets out of control, zeal will decrease, and i think hapiness does as well.

How do you get GI past 4*. Lat night i thought lets play the spanish again and I'm doing well in the GA scores but the highest GI i have is 4*, all of other normal inquistors are also stuck at 4* and not budging from there.

You'll need to burn 8 more people after you gained your fourth star to a total of 16 to get 5 stars, and a total sum of 32 to get 6 stars.

And maximum burn rate of faction leaders are 25%, and only when you got 100% zeal, which is the most important factor.
