As you are all aware we have a theoretically post limit here of about 10 000 posts. GD is allocated something of the order of 2000 of these, we're currently on about 2300. The consequence is that we have to prune pretty brutally hard and fairly regularly. This process however isn't helped by people starting multiple topics on the same subject. STW/WE server downtime is a serious issue, but we don't need multiple threads on it, and endless it's still down posts. Discuss away but bear in mind everything that you post on the front page results in something at the other end that may be useful getting the chop.
I'm going to enforce this relatively strictly, but i don't want a frontpage full of closed threads, so try and keep the discussion focesed and don't start threads on topics that are already covered. Closed topics like this will remain for a few hours with a note to let you know why it's closed, then they'll just be deleted.I'm not getting into any arguments about stuff getting closed under these circumstances
