Legendary Swordsman Event?

What is the legendary swordsman event? I was reading a strategy thing and it mentioned it and said I would get it soon or something. Can anyone tell me what this is?

It is when one of your samurai/ashigaru achieve 3 (I think) in honour, in one single battle. When the battle is finished, at the strategy map over Japan, a message box appears telling you that one of your warriors has achieved to become legendary swordsman.

When you got the event, a large castle, and a spear dojo, you can build sword dojo, and then the unit No-dachi is available.

Thanks. but wouldn't it be hard to get 3 honour? and if u do. there probably wouldn't be many left in that unit right?

Hmmm, for some reason I thought it occurred when one of your MEN in a h2h units gets ten kills (I believe YS qualify for the Event) and survives the battle.

The best way to achieve this if you are trying to do it is to draw some h2h units off of enemy archers and then rear-flank the archers with some troops, when they run you will tear them to shreads and probably get a legendary swordsman as a result.

auto resolving a castle assault early on useually does the trick. That and using the daimyo and simply smashing some enemy units

Don't know if there is an "offical" page. I have received the event a few different ways;

1. My general receives a higher rank from battle.
2. My Diamyo delivers a flanked attack or kills routing troops.
3. My troops kill ratio exceeds 2:1

Basically the event is award based on the honour system. Try to acheive higher honour by utilizing battlefield tactics.

BTW, you don't need a spear dojo to build a sword dojo, just a large castle.

I know for sure that it occurs when ANY ONE of your men (Samurai I believe) makes a certain number of kills, individually. I believe it is 10 kills. But since it is hard to watch individual men on the battlefield (and impossible to order them around), you dont know which guy is close to the threshold. You just have to kill a bloody ton of the enemy to get it.

Its honour not number or kills. You can get the swordsmen event through killing a single enemy of high enough honour which then gives the victor enough honour to trigger the event.

And it is the honour of a single individual increasing to the threshold or above in battle. As you Daimyo starts with high enough honour to start a dojo, so it is not just starting honour it is battlefield earned.

So go kill high rank Taisho or a Daimyo and if the killer survives he has enough honour to start his own sword dojo. Also Ashiguru can do this.

Is it impossible for a daimyo to achieve the desired result? Yesterday my daimyo gained 4 in unit honour in one battle, after he and his hatamoto had singlehandedly taken on 60 yari samurais and 60 yari ashigarus simultaneously. The daimyo was the only one standing when his ground troops finally joined the fight. Nevertheless, I didn't get any message about a legendary swordsman event.

Do the Shimazu who specialise in no-dachi also need the event to build the sword dojo? I ask because I don't remember getting the event when playing the Shimazu campaign but I had no problem building the sword dojo. I can't rule out that it's just my memory failing me.

I think you have to get to honour 3 or 4 to trigger the event. As the Daimyo starts at honour 5 it maybe that he is past the trigger point and he will never be the legendary swordsmen even though he can kick the guys butt up and down the tiled rice paddies all day long.

Shimazu need the event to build the sword dojo. But in some campaigns there is a legendary sword dojo very nearby (hint, hint) http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
