Hi.
I have just found the MTW 1.1 patch deep within the game files.(i must have downloaded it but forgot where i put it)
Everyone seems to have 1.1 now, but i still have 1.0.
Two Qs:
1)Will my 1.0 save games still work on 1.1?

2)I've found the official list, but in 'real' terms, what does the 1.1 patch have to offer? What do YOU like/dislike about the changes?

I wish i had a more interesting first post but there you go...
Thanks in advance,
Melvinio

I play with VI 2.01 but...I do know that in 1.1, the king 56 years old bug will go away, meaning kings won't always die at 56...

The 56 year old king was a VI 2.0 vs VI 2.01 issue. I honestly can't remember the difference other than bug fixes what came along with the MTW 1.1 patch.

If you enjoy and play MTW often, VI is a great investment. The pre-battle screen and the Viking period battles greatly extent the enjoyment of the game. I don't have the time to play computer games very often, but when I do it is generally MTW/VI.

lots of confusion in these posts.
- 56 bug and cav swiping were 2.0 vs 2.01 issues (VI)

1 - been such a long time, i can't really recall. I wouldn't count on 1.0 saves working under 1.1. 1.1 made alot of changes

2 - basically 1.1 fixed numerous/countless bugs. Now, some players like these bugs alot, but IMO the 1.1 patch is a must for a more realistic and balanced game. For example, I like the fact that units are properly restricted to their intended eras (early/high/late), factions (turks can't build longbowmen) and region specialties (Swiss Armored Pikemen can't be built in Arabia). Sure, the game is more difficult on 1.1 than 1.0, but it's closer to the way the developers intended the game to be played.

But if you cant win in 1.0 then you might not want to install 1.1

I have successfully continued a campaign that I started with MTW 1.0 after upgrading to 1.1 In fact, the upgrade fixed a serious bug: I was playing Italians and had sent 2 galleys into the Straits of Sicily, but could not see them on the map in the next turn. They still showed up on my armies list etc.., so I knew they were not lost. When I patched up to 1.1 and reloaded the game, they showed up http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Other thing I noted, is that in MTW 1.1 , pressing the V key on campaign map shows all the seas you control in green. Not so in MTW 1.0 .

I would definitely upgrade to 1.1 (hehe, you can say that about any random piece of software)

What I have not decided on is whether to purchase VI, with RTW due out in a few more months. I have so little time to play, I have only done 4 serious campaigns, so there is much left to enjoy in MTW 1.1. But I would love to have that pre-battle save option http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Definitely apply the 1.1 patch (maybe finish your 1.0 campaign first...?) - it does fix a bunch of, er, features which were kinda daft. Also, the sea lane 'v' key is 'v'. useful (tee hee http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )

One big difference, 1.1 onwards, units are now limited to their eras as opposed to in 1.0 where you can build as you please. Also, certain units are no longer available to certain factions even if they control the province, eg Byz no swiss units.
