Hi Amir http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

It is located under Control Panel: Personal Info.

You used to have to post 500 times before you could personalise it. As you can see by my avatar that is no longer the case.

I thought you could now personlise it straight away unless the post limit has only been reduced http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Hello again amir http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I've just located a thread that says it's no longer restricted by posts, you just need to have Member status but you are only a Junior Patron. Don't worry shouldn't be long now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Sorry mate that's not how it works http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

The moderators monitor us and promote from Junior Patron to Senior Patron based on how you interact on the forum. You've made 53 posts so appear to be well on your way. The promotion from Senior Patron to Member is automatic within about a week of becoming a Senior Patron.

Just keep up the interaction and try and give advice as well as receive it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

It just takes a little while. The moderators just want to make sure that 1) you're not an already existing member setting up a duplicate account and 2) you're not a hothead who blows up on people. Just bide your time, keep posting, and the next time they do promotions (it's once every 2 weeks or so, it's not a continuous process) they'll give you a bump.

...and so we're back to the start. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smiley.gif
Just wait. It'll take a few weeks max and then you'll be able to change your avatar.

And as The_Emperor says, pick an avatar that's uncommonly used. (This means you may want to avoid VIcatspy03, VIVikGen020, STW30, STW26 and certainly CatMisc05 too http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-grin2.gif)

Makes live easier for me too (I usually look at the avatars to identify patrons).

Not all registered users are online. Many of them registered but never posted. Relax. You'll get your avatar.
And mind you, you'll get your avatar much much quicker than a lot of patrons over here. I, for instance, had to spam my way up, passing through all the default duke and count and man-at-arms avatars, to get a female avatar at my 500th post.
Believe me, it was very traumatising. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wideeyed.gif

(but then still, you would reach the 500 posts in let's say, 10 days, so no problem for you anyway, lol)

spamming is crapping IMO its just people who all they want to get ranked up, i dont even mind staying a junior patron,
all i want is to get a good avatar and exculusive not one that 50% of the forum uses.

BTW
do u mean that the avatar also switch automatic every some posts?

yessir.
But don't expect too much of it. It's just some default avatars, they're the same for everyone, nothing special.

Not exactly sure about the post counts, but
from 100-200 you'll be knight iirc
then 200-325 is count,
then 326-499 is duke,
and from your 500th post on you can add anything you like above your avatar.

Hope this info is a bit usefull to you.

Food for thought amir: we moderators don't have time to think about promotions because we are tied up reading all your posts. Two hours ago I got myself current on reading all the posts. I check in now and find 15 more topics I have to read...almost all with your name as the last poster You are wearing me out.

In all seriousness, I suggest you slow down a bit. You are posting like this is a chat room - and it isn't. Give a little more thought to your posts. Your posts where you are helping someone are short, sometimes cryptic and seem rushed. I'd much rather read one good, well thought out post than ten 1-2 sentence throw away posts.

BTW, spammers always deny they are spamming. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I don't mean to stomp on your enthusiasm, I'm just trying to redirect that energy. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif

its just that i always forgot something and after a minute i remember at it and write it on a new one because i cant edit the messege.
that is write about most of my posts, i usualy a bit of hurry and then i fill the lack of edit option as i mistake and sometimes i'm not even sending a correct repley at all.

about the chat thing, sorry for tiring you down i just:
a)has'nt realy thoughts you mods will read ALL and i could'nt find whats wrong on responding to people
b)the forums i use to be at are forums that people are not the last post on 60% of the but on all, so i thoughts its the same on all forums, and no1 realy cares about what i''m posting
c)ill try answer less, but its hard, i use to respond on everything i can.

and on the last thing: i'm warning you, stop saying i am a spammer or http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-rifle.gif

I'm just worried about your health, young man. At 48.52 posts per day average (and counting) I have to wonder: have you eaten today? Looks like you've been behind that keyboard for over 12 hours.

Yes, here in the Entrance Hall we read every single post from every single member. It's a labor of love. LoL.

Gregoshi
06-24-2004, 23:17
I bet you are right Kukri He hasn't eaten all day and is delirious http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Just kidding amir.

If you find yourself constantly needing to go back and edit then you are moving to fast. To slow yourself up, click on the preview button to see how the post looks. Give it a proofreading. Not only will you find errors, but that thought you forgot about might just pop in your mind. If you wonder about the usefulness of the preview, then consider this: what is the first thing you do after you click on the submit button? You re-read your post, right? How else could you know a minute later that you forgot something if you didn't? The preview allows you do do this without submitting the post.

Getting back to posting so fast, you gotta kick back and enjoy life. Enjoy the journey as well as the destination. In the immortal words of Simon & Garfunkle:

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy.

Groovy, baby http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-beatnik.gif

Regarding reading every post, here is a sobering thought for me: I've been a moderator of the Entrance Hall since it opened its doors back in late 2002. This means I've read about 50,000 posts. Here is an even more sobering thought: about 10% of those posts (5000+) are mine. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-stunned.gif I...have...no...life... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/barrel.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

I don't blame this guy for not wanting to step away from the comfort of his computer. Who really wants to step outside in Israel?

amir
06-25-2004, 10:55
actually due to the last military actions the number of suicide bombers went dramatically down comparing to the last two years but also as a result of defending our selfs 90% of the world hates us, its kinda funny because the world liked us a lot more when we sat and let them kill us, and started hating us from the moment we start protecting our selfs

Demon of Light
06-25-2004, 11:02
I think we can accept as a given that the number of Palestinians who hate Israelis has at the very least not declined. What, if anything, makes you believe that this period of relative calm will persist?

amir
06-25-2004, 11:07
I believe it will persist as long as our army will make sure they can't do anything, but with the world pressure i'm not sure that it will continue to be that way for long time. and soon the terrorist acts will return to full activity, IMO our only chance is to ignore the world opinion and continue defending our selfs

Demon of Light
06-25-2004, 11:23
THe army, even at its best, is hardly infallible. With regards to public opinion, good luck ignoring it. I suspect that the repercussions of a negative public opinion will eventually interfere with how the IDF does its job. I'm not talking about bowing to pressure here. Taken to an extreme, if Israel were ever to become an unequivical pariah, economic pressures alone would cut into your defense budget. YOu need at least a few business partners. The U.S cannot subsidize Israel in its entirety.

It's more a function of time and quality, Alexander the Pretty Good (extremely clever name, by the way). We have almost 3,000 Junior Patrons registered, the vast majority of whom log in once, and never again (at least not under the same name).

So we keep an eye on this forum to see: Does he/she come back? Does he/she 'play well with others'? Does he/she try to be constructive...or at least not DEstructive?

Then we consult together, and people move up the membership ladder. We try to do a batch of folks weekly; more often during rush periods (when new games or patches get released).

Used to be only the really special patrons got to have a custom made avatar and then typically after they got to Kensai status (1000 posts)... about a year or so for most people... or 3 weeks for Amir.

The Kensai icon is the one I have...

thats the case with the terrorist, you never think they harmful, dangerous or wants to kill you until they hit you, and then you have to take care of the situation, while other people that also have or had this problem will agree with your actions and understand it is for self defence, while other countries like England or USA cant understand this because they don't use for such thing, and as a result blame us for harming civilians ( = Arabs (or Chechen's in Russia case) with guns that want to kill you for no obvious reason).

My mom is from the Philippines which has been battling a muslim insurgency on and off (in addition to a communist insurgency) for the last 50 years.

For the most part I agree with you, The government must be able to create a stable state, insurgencies undermine the efforts of the government. In the case of the communists' the solution has been to keep them from growing large enough through grass roots efforts. For the most part the strategy has worked. There are still so called peoples militias but most sizable Philippine towns have their own catholic or right wing militias.

Dealing with nationalistic/ethnic insurgencies is much harder. I really don't know if there is a solution to the problem, I only know that these problems will continue to persist and that countries currently fighting insurgencies will probably be fighting them 20 years from know.

Some times I (rarely) watch the CNN news and i noticed that they are *** ** * ******, why, because they start to explain: israel bombed a (important) terrorist camp 12 terrorist (end of important) has been killed and 1 civilian has been taken to hospital, (again important)this was as a result of terrorist sucidal explosion a few hours ago (end of important), and a whole 15 minutes about the situtain of the civilian, not a single thing about the terrorist explosion or the terrorists we managed to kill, also the important lines are been sayed faster then normal.

P.S. how the **** have a topic about Avatars became a political topic?

Happens all the time here. Understand that once you leave the Entrance Hall, most of the other .Org forums will more forcefully impose the stay on topic rule.

CrackedAxe, you got your question answered, yes?
