Does anyone think Medievil would be even better, I know I
think thought it was impossible too,but Rome showed us this was indeed so
So I think it would have been great to have a save-Enabled
Multiplayer Campaign
Of Course we could actually do this by Email
It really would be very cool if it was possibile to play a campaign over the net, each player will be a nation and will have a limited time to his turn, or something like it
it would take waaaaaaaaay to long to complete http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-book2.gif
but if all the turns will be at once (you know, you move all the things press and turn, wait till all the other players to finish moving their units and only then the units and actions will happen, that way it would'nt be longer then a normal game, the only problem is the save problem, as most people can't play for such long time, but maybe it's possibile that at a certion time all players decide to save and exits and come back tommarow or sometime else and continue playing), it would be awsome.

It would be alright, however a game would NEVER get finished (unless starting maybe in late/GA mode).

it would take long to complete but with a Save option I doubt that would matter much,
the main problem would be people with 56k in it but luckily in Rome it only sends The Odd Order between Machines
So if a Fourth game is released it could be a big selling point
BUT
Making it would be Slight Problem

I'm working on one now... see my sig or keep up to date in the Dungeon / Alchemist Lab / MP Campaign (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=5;t=16648) thread.
Any comments and contributions are welcomed.

True if it were a massively multiplayer game, but with only a few factions per game, or a reduced campaign map it will work.

Tonka,
Yeh
I suppose it is Feasable even with this
Total War Engine but,
With so much work involved it would take Ages to complete

Yup it will.
I'm tackling it in stages.
Firstly it will simply act as an interface that people can use to control multi-player battles within a campaign scenario... ie: not much in the way of construction etc.
Then I'll look at construction and tech trees.
After that, who knows.
The diplomacy stuff can be handled by players role-playing their envoys etc.

people have sugguested doing this using the pre-battle quick save/load.
The problem is when you use that I don't think you get any production for that turn if you use it.

Tonkatoys,
In your first stage of making a mp campaign
can u train men or do you get a set amount of men?
What I think could be good but at this stage in time is probably impossible is that in battles you gain Points
which can be spent in the campaign map kind of like a modified version of Ground Control's Resource System?

Sorry, but I think MP campaigns could well be a waste of time. I've been playing MP battles for while now and I've noticed how quickly a lot of people will quit from a 10-15 minute battle as soon as they start to lose. How many, then, will stick with long winded campaign if things start to go badly. I reckon you'd hardly ever get to play past the early stages.

Well I think this is clan based because of your reason there

I mean UR completely right,
you could'nt just go onto
any old server -no,no- this Gametype would need a Organised group like say eg. one Clan Controls Catholics
and another Controls Muslims
Get it now m8?

I would suggest all battles be auto-resolved for starters.
With a timer for your turn... 10 to 20 mins (less for higher difficulty) or play by mail version one turn/day. Autosaves each turn. Player has the option of the AI taking complete control or if they drop the connection the server AI automatically takes control... player can rejoin or another player can take over depending on the options.
Second version would take longer but this is how I would do it: Only the battles that involve the King have the player play... if it is King vs player non-King then the AI plays the non-King. This would speed up play, and make Kings slightly more important rather then just a dude who sits back in the middle of his kingdom getting builder virtue and children.

Well, currently it just shows a fixed number of men. My next task is to put in a Train Army button... (only going to have very basic choices to start with).
Not sure how to handle finance as it is quite an important part of the game. I guess I might initally just give an income per owned province.
Battle points might work... sort of booty or ransoms I guess.

Yeh I think the Normal way
of Income would be god for now but something that would
be cool would be if the Players could give Tributes?
And do you think you could change it so that you could
have Armies in Allies Territory as a Helper?
