You may say I suck at Shogun, but I prefer to think of myself as an ally who brings out the best in his teammates.
Think of me as the retarded little brother, if you will. You need to keep me from getting beat up on the playground, and so my presence brings out the best in you.
Sure, I mount reckless downhill counter-attacks when I am defender and end up routing thru my allies men. But it only puts the fire of God in my comrades and makes their soldiers march faster, kill quicker and fight harder.
Sure, I hit Cntrl-W and withdraw my H4 HC general from a melee and forget to recall him before the whole unit is off the map, but it makes my allies cry "revenge" and come to my aid to save me from the clutches of the enemy.
Sure, I sometimes move my soldiers in groups on attacks and end up with a few units standing around while the rest of my men fight, but its only because these "standarounds" are artists who are writing and sketching the events in their "art folders" so they can send them to my allies with the addendum "Help Me, I'm getting my Ass kicked -- just look at the sketch!"
So for those of you who think you're so high and mighty let me assure you, I bring THE DUMP FACTOR to the battle. I'm like a hurricane, baby, except I don't do any damage and no one is scared of me. Okay, I'm not like a hurricane. Shut Up!

That battle last night where you lost 945 out of 960 men was not the worst I've seen, but pretty close to it. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif I remember one 3v3 STW game against 3 clan members where two of them made a 28 unit no-dachi/monk rush, with a few ranged units backing up the attack, against me and Takeshida So. The two made a big sweeping maneuver to get on level ground and came in at 90 degrees to their rout point. The 3rd enemy battled aginst Gustavus on another part of the map. When it was over only one man out of 1680 no-dachi/monks escaped. I don't remember how many of the ranged units made it out. I do remember one player saying in disbelief, "I only have one man left!".
Don't worry Major. When you're my ally, I just avert my eyes from what you are doing. I never saw your H4 HC taisho withdraw from the battle, so it didn't bother me at all. Can't fault someone for saving their taisho anyway. You need him for the next battle. And, I know that you routing through me is just to draw an overconfident enemy into my spear deathtrap. My spear infantry doesn't like to move around a lot, so it's nice of you to bring the enemy to them.

Somethimes multi shogun is like chess between newbees and watching it.
u see so many opportunities, chances to win that it almost hurts your eyes. In the end one, who made the less mistakes might have won.
but dump, if i read well your general was saved...

That's right Cheetah. The Major was center in that game, and he held the center despite the absence of his taisho. Our opponents weren't newbies either.

Actually, Yuuki and Cheetah, I hate to ruin the tiny level of confidence you have in me, but in that particular game it was not my gen I withdrew, just a normal HC about 50 full who i was trying to retreeat from spears.
The withdrawel of my full Taisho unit happened a few nights earlier in a late night 4v4 with some people I did not know (or recognize, perhaps) I don't think anyone noticed, so I didnt say anything and just reassured myself my general was going to Papa Johns to bring back dinner for my entrenched troops.

You just keep on playing sucky when you're on the other teams, and great when you are with Cheetah and me. You'll have players saying, "What the hell? Is he or isn't he good?". Never let your opponent know how good you really are. Keep something in reserve, like your taisho, for the really tough opponets. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

i think it got dumped, dump. but you might be able to tickle tosa into resurrecting it from an archive....course, every time i say that he ends up sending me the archive and i have to plow thru the bloody thing. but in this case it may be worth it ;)
