Best all-round unit [Archive]

What in your esteemed opinions is the best all round unit.

I think it is the warrior monks, though they have little armor in my experiance they can rout three times their number of medium infantry.(yaris, nagintas, SA, Muskets, Arqus.)

My esteemed opinion is to agree with you. If I could only take one type of unit to battle I'd take warrior monks. They're not perfect but they're the closest thing to it.

I hate to admit it, but powerd Ashis are the most all-round units. They are faster, good bonus vs. cav, and at h6 w3 a3 they cut through monsk as a warm knife through butter.

The idea of a single all-round unit runs counter to the concept of the game.

You have to use a mixture of units with different strengths to counter the enemy's force.

That's what makes the tactics interesting.

Well that would surely be the monk, especially in MI/WE v1.03 It has the defensive bonus the nodachi lacks while it isn't susceptible to YS unlike the HC.

My mavourite unit would be definetly Mongol Light Cavarly. Speed is everything to me. It shoots, it rides, it has a nice punch - what else do you need!

thnx for answering some of the units that are only avalible in the expansion pack I have never played, how does mongol hevy cav differ from normal heavy cav?

Mongol Heavy Cavalry tear through anything. Even Samerarai hvy Cav

only way to beat them with cavarly alone and I don't suggest it is to upgrade your cavarly as much as possible nad hit them with numbers on more than one flank.

They clean house and most basic Samarai units flee in shrot order.

i agree with krast u need a verity or u could lose Eg an entire yari sam army can beat an entire cav army but not an entire no dachi army but an entire monk army could beat an entire nodachi army and so on

If u play a 1 unit vs 1 unit fight and its version 1.02 i say its ND and YS.

I don't know if they're the best but my favourite unit is Naginata cavalry.
the reason why. 1/ they are reasonably priced. 2/ they have good speed
3/. they give good morale support to the rest of the Army. 4/ they are a great all round unit.
they are only as strong as the rest of the Army,
