Papacy or poep

I have read before sometime here that you can enter the game debug mode (-ian) and play unusual factions such as the arognese or the sicilians.
and i've been wondering, if i'll play the Papacy, will I be able to create excomm, or seggust a crusade, and can I get excomm?

You can't do anything like that. Catholics who attack you can be excommunicated but this is automatic, i.e. you cannot press an icon to excommunicate a faction. The advantages are that you cannot be excommunicated and you don't have to worry about heirs.
Aragonese are availalble to play if you buy Viking Invasion (along with the Hungarians and Sicilians.)

i guess it really would'nt be fair if you had those abilities, but still it would be.

BTW is it possibile to mod the game so it will be possibile?

Actually I changed the start positions in the campmap diretory ages ago and tried out the pope not much fun no real unique units and even though I was the pope I got ecomunicated to boot. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

You excommunicated yourself? How strange. Never happened to me. I agree with you that being the Papacy isn't much fun because of the lack of any good generals.

Is it possible to create a mod that will change the papacy:
1) create several unique units such as: vaticanian guard, vaticanian horsemen, etc. etc.
2) being able to excomm, and tell the world to go to crusades
3) makes so no muslim faction will ally you, and always fight even if they got no chance
4) cant get excomm
5) can train unique agents: vatican cardinal (a stronger cardinal), etc. etc.
6) etc.

i just thoughts, someone that good at mods maybe can to that, and it will be a lot funner to play with them that way, although that the extra possibilties is hard ( i guess ) because you'll have to make a new dialog for it(but when i thiink about it, it might be possibile that their crusade marker will do that action and another marker will excomm.

please tell me if all that is possibile and if someone is going to try this?

Actually, that's not true. You can be the Pope and get excommunicated; I've done it on more than one occasion.

When a Crusade tries to go through your territory, give it a big HELL NO

It's automatic- you will get excommunicated.

As for the heirs, you're right, but the new Pope will always be your best general. So on the one hand, your ruler will always be have a good command rating... on the other hand, your good generals will have a strange tendency to vanish...
