Well, I haven't been around in a while but here's a question.

I am trying to learn more about how the game calculates who beats who but...

If a unit attacks another (what decides who is the agressor and who is the defender?) the defence factor is subtracted from the attack factor and the resulting number, the higher it is means you have more chances of losing. But, if you attack downhill and you have an attack bonus of 2, is -2 added to make the number smaller? I mean hypothetically : 2 - -6 = 8
2+2- -6 = 10

I realize this post may make no sense

I know that the attacker is: the units that engage, attack with his sword. The defender is the unit who recieves the attack, obviously.

When I say "unit" I mean every single of the units, so when a whole squadron of 60 men charges another squadron, some in each squadron are both attackers (engages the defenders in another squadron), and defenders (defends from the attacker in the other squadron).

I just realize this post may make no sense http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Ok, that actually makes sense. I was thinking ONE unit (as in, all 60 men) is attacker and ONE unit is defender... But, to have men from both units be attacker and defenders makes perfect sense... thanks

Now, all I need is the answer to my other question
