Rulers and Acumen

So, as you can probably tell from the title, I'm wondering if a ruler's acumen actually has any effect on anything.

If my 6-feather King dies and is replaced by a bumbling, six-toed King, will my income drop due to the acumen difference?

I believe so. The acumen of a ruler affects the entire kingdom, whereas a governors acumen merely affects the province he governs.
This is why moving your heirs around to be in a provincwe when a building is constructed, to try and get steward & builder virtues, is a good idea, as when they inherit the throne, they will improve your income.

I think its 2% increase in income for every acumen feather your king has. can make quite a difference at times, esp if you run on a real tight budget

Aye. That's why a high acumen ruler is important for the Germans, who daren't tax their already disgruntled provinces highly until they've got a few steward and builder virtues in the bag.

The little extra brought in by a high acumen ruler helps you build up a little extra to get there.

If it is just 2% then the difference between having a 5 accumen ruler and a zero is essentially the same as an extra feather on all your governors... ticklish but not to be sneezed at http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

That's why you make the governor of Venice 7-accumen instead of 1-feather. It adds up when it counts. A 1-accumen governor is OK when your provinces are crap to start with, but not when talking about a REALLY REALLY valuable piece of real estate.

The income boost is 2% per quill for a king and 10% per quill for governors so u can get even 90% better revenues with a governors acumen only.

All my province govs have a minimum of 4 acumen. I never pay attention to my king's acumen. The bum dies so often that I can't control it anyway.... The province gov acumen makes a HUGE difference.

As someone stated, a kings affects all income 2% for each quill

I gov'r raises 10% a quill
