Hello,

I've been wanting to buy MTW for a while now, mainly for multiplayer games but I'm concerned of laggy gameplay since I live in Malaysia and only has a 384kbps DSL connection. I've been trying to play other games, such as Counter Strike: Condition Zero on USA server using Steam but it's too laggy and was unable to play. I can only play those games on nearer server, such as Singapore.

I haven't tried Gamespy server yet so I don't know whether the game would be very laggy or not.

I would like to ask if anyone who live in Asia or even better, South East Asia with more or less the same connection speed with me and still can play MTW well using gamespy server.

Thanks.

Hello, tester23401, welcome to the .Org.

I am not near you, but several patrons here are, and I'm sure will be along soon to speak to your question.

Cheers.

I know FF clanmembers living in Taiwan and Tasmania with comparable or worse http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-anxious.gif connection (including a 56k), and it's not a problem.

What matters is that;
1/ your connection is stable... Stable is better than fast in this case
2/ your pc itself is fast. If you got laggy game playing a 4v4 custom games vs AI, it's not going to get better online.

No clue of RTW requirement...

thanks for the reply. I have quite stable connection I think (never get disconnected unless sometimes server slows down).

I tried to ping gamespy.com and the average time is about 700 to 900 ms. Is this sounds desirable to play MTW online?

High ping times are not really a problem for a game like MTW. You should be able to play online fine.

That ping is to gamespy but the game is played peer to peer so its the ping to the host that is important.
