Is the unit support cost equal for all types of units, i.e. just the cost of feeding a certain number of men, or do expensive units such as heavy cavalry cost more in support than yari ashigarus? Does anyone know how high the cost is?

1 koku is enough grain to keep a man alive for 1 year so for every soldier you have it costs you 1 koku. so in answer to your question the cost of upkeep is the same (if there are the same number of men in both units)

Ashigaru (inc. guns) cost less than samurai- do you think all those tassells, flag painting, and flower arranging lessons were free?

But a man with no head needs not eat at all.

Surely that should be man with no stomach? Maybe the headless horseman's hunger pangs are the source of all his rage.

'Rage' is a clan. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

And, I eat plenty of Ramen Noodles, popcorn and sake. So, the Horseman is never 'hungry' by having an empty stomach. But I need not eat, I just eat anyways, for it gives me pleasure. Have you tasted paradise? The Ramen Noodles are... so sublime... almost like a supple nipple... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Actually in STW I believe all units cost the same to support, based on the number of men. Doesn't matter if they're Ashi or Sams, footie or horsie, all men are equal. Which is of course entirely unrealistic.

If someone has info to the contrary, please do show me. But this has always been what I've observed.
