View Full Version : viking map
has anyone ever looked at the Netherlands in the viking map? It has the shape it has now but in 800 it looked very very different. large parts of central-holland were only made dry in the 20th century, and in 800 the elisabethsflood hadn't taken place and the zuiderzee, let alone the ijssellake or ijsselmeer exited. I think a major error in map design

I think it has been discussed already. Try doing a search either in the entrance hall or main hall.
Imo it is not really a big deal since it isn't a playable part of the map. But I agree that it is a silly mistake that could have been easily avoided.
The same mistake is made on the normal MTW map http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif
Furthermore, sea levels were considerably higher in those days. Known Scandinavian ports from that time are now inland and the whole coastline was somewhat different for that reason.
Personally, I really don't mind.

perhaps they made the map more like today's world so that the ppl who just want to play and have fun would know where the heck they are...
I think having denmark written across the province should give them a clue.
