Maybe I even have the name wrong, but in my Italian med mod campiagn I have ran into a massive problem. My navy cant get into the atlantic...And since Medmod uses the whole homeland thing, I cant build ships anywhere on the atlantic, which means I cant ever have a single ship on the atlantic...My territory now stretches to normandy, but I have no way of concquirng England since that land bridge is gone...This also means the danes, swedes, and english have total control over the whole west side of spain and france, invading at will.

So, my question is, is this a bug? A screw up on Wes's part, or something I am somehow supposed to deal with? I have deep sea ships, still not luck, btw.

I don't have MedMod, but I don't think it is a bug. From what I heard, MedMod design so that sea is broken into unconnected regions (2 of them IIRC). If you need to expand your naval power into the North Alantic, you have to begin with taking a province that have port open to North Alantic.

Second idea is the homeland region. I believe that you can not build up so much out side of your homeland region. In order to have your naval power in North Alantic, I think that you have to capture a provinces with necessary buildings intact (whichever building that let you build ship).

Well, I don't have MedMod, so I could be wrong.

He removed seas to keep some of those huge trading empires down, I do believe he removed 4 sea reigions, and straight of Gilraltar is one of the (IIRC)

The idea is that it is harder for you or anyone else to create an overwhelming trade network. If you want ships in the Atlantic you will have to take a province that borders it. Just be careful because you will not be able to build ships from any Spanish provinces and will need to get into France before you will aquire a province that can build ships. This little sleeper is my main complaint about Medmod. I feel that ships should be one of those items you can build anywhere, but instead they are very restricted.

I thought they were not a homeland building... I check up on it.

New concept: Homelands. A dozen or so provinces that share the same ethnicity as a given faction, usually encompassing the faction's territory and some surrounding provinces. Note that two or more factions may claim the same province, where their peoples intermingle. This can often lead to conflict between the factions. A list of the Homelands for each faction is available in the Homelands and Mercs page of the v3 stats spreadsheet.

[I]For non-Homeland provinces, you may be able to build peasants, ships, artillery or special attack units such as spies and assassins. Specifics may be found in the Unit notes text.[/I

Its wrong. However, the Byz can build ships in the Baltic Sea(I think the provence was Novograd, or Lithuania), so you might want to try to reach there.

i have underlined the key word from the readme, this is why you can build ships in some provinces but not others. i have just been playing a medmod almohad campaign & i was able eventually to build ships in brittany & flanders.

IIRC, for Mediterranean factions, the Southernmost province on the Atlantic to build ships is Brittany.

Well I have all of old france and mainland england, and still no ships...I dunno what to do. I thought I had shipwrites in all those provinces, I guess ill double check that...
