New online player looking for mentor(s)

Hello all. I played the original Shogun: Total War when it first came out awhile ago but put it aside. I just recently picked it up again with the Warlord Edition that was published and got back into practice.

I'm looking for anyone who would be nice enough to show me the ropes for online play and can tolerate (but teach) a young daimyo.

My advice to you my friend is only to play friendly games try 2v2 3v3 4v4.
watch and ask questions have fun and stay away from comps.
some players will try to get you to play comps.
ignore them stick to Friendly's ask questions and enjoy yourself.
you will learn and have fun, the MI players are a nice bunch of people,
and most of them will tolerate you, and help you.
download patch 1.02 & as many maps as possible,
some players will be playing patch 1.03
you can learn about the second patch later just go and have FUN

Ok, I registered "Tetuno" on both the Shogun and Mongol registration pages. Although, the Mongol registration page seems broken since it gives me a database error when I go to join a clan.

Well, it looks like MI registration is broken for now. I can't get a player registered because of the database error on the registration pages.

You'd think they'd care whether or not their customers could play online.

If i see ya I will teach u what I know. Be warned though that if I teach u u will probably become a clone of how I play which may not be the best thing in the world. I have helped people b4 and like doing it as it gives me a challenge but there is a few other people who know more than me.

Well, I got ahold of EA support, but have you ever had that sinking feeling that you're talking to a gigantic megacorp and they can't possibly know what is going on internally...

I actually convince them to let me email them the ODBC errors I get on the registration pages, but all I got back was, "Uhhhh..."

This is a real bummer since I was looking forward to playing against other people. I'm dominating the campaign set at Hard and it's getting a little boring.

Tetuno, once you get online finally: If you see an Ugly in the lobby, we will be more than happy to help you out. Make sure you are registering at the Shogun MI/WE server and not the Shogun Total War server. Also, I had same problem when I tried to register my old name on new server, it would only let me register a different name and not my name from old STW. Good luck and hope to see ya soon. PS. Thanks for the encouragement and advice guys. Unfortunately, I've tried registering several different accounts and players, to no avail.

EA tech help even asked me to try using netscape instead of IE, but that didn't work either. There is something clearly wrong with the MI registration site.
