Yeah, for June 28 and 29, the advisor lady has given away soom of the vices and virtues available in RTW Some of them sound quite interesting; maybe there will be some crazy pre-battle speeches from some of these generals
Some of the vices include:
"Wretched Landlubber", "Fanatical Chariot-Racer", and "Iredeemably Foul-Mouthed"

I also liked the 'Good Infantry commander' or whatever. It could add variety when you have a general famed for his cavalry, or his ambushes or something rather than just plain stars.

Vice&Virtues will be awsome in RTW if my generals won't only get bad vices&virtues like in MTW. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

The question is, what kind of slaves? And how in the blazes do you aquire that vice? Let's hope it's easier to aquire some of the weirder things, since I never got a lot of the MTW v/vs. Like autocrat etc.

Maybe he had his testicles crush by angry slaves? This did actually happen, I think, although it would have been outside RTW's timeframe.

I'd like to see some of those explained. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
I hope there aren't too many of the random ones like in MTW and that most of them will have to be the result of a player's actions. All the random bad V&Vs popping up got quite annoying in MTW especially ones like inbred which made no sense to not affect a person until adulthood.

"Rods and Axes" probably refers to the fasces, which were axes encased in bundles of rods. These were used by 'lictors', i believe, who were essentially the consul/emperor's bodyguards. They were legally entitled to use these weapons against anyone who menaced the consul/emperor. The modern word 'fascism' is derived from them.
What precisely this means in the game terms, as a virtue or vice, is anybody's guess.

"Nervous around Slaves"
as long as there were slaves, there must have been slave revolts. Living through a slave revolt might make one nervous. Or, a slave tired of slaving in bed....maybe some slaves can be used as spies or assasins...
Lots of these do sound interesting.
The orgy one, were it to be introduced would be a vice. The Romans of the time were refined, restrained people of self dicipline.
At least the patricians
publicly
well, officially publicly
nevermind actual practice, all that mattered was ones reputation, which wasn't determined by practice. But how accomplished....

The Fasces represented strength and power and was a symbol of authority, in fact it literally represented the power of life and death that a magistrate held over citizens. Birch rods were used in the Roman world to flog someone, axes for beheading. I'm guessing the 'Rods and axes' vice signifies someone who enjoys displays of power. (i.e. an autocrat)

uhm, how about the parties that would turn into orgies ?
not to mention that it was customary for them to gorge themselves like crazy, then insert two fingers down their throat and regurgitate, then go back to stuffing themselves ?
I remember they actually had holes nearby their sofas (or whatever they were lying on) to throw up into...
if you call this restrain, and self-discipline, then I sure as hell have been going to the wrong kind of parties throughout my youth http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
