Chinese infantry in Norway?

OK, playing a regular (non-MedMod) Early/French/Hard campaign. I just took over Norway, and now I can build Chinese infantry there. Also, thinking back on it, some of the other armies I have fought against have contained distinctly MedMod sounding units like Transylvanian Archers. Anyone know why this is happening?

The unit names change after you install medmod AND remain the same even if you dont play a medmod game.

See the byzantine units their names are all different.

Oh, so that's why my French Royal Knights are called Outremer Sergeants...
