So say goodbye to the nice cop http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
Okay a couple of rules on my watch.
Have fun, but not at someone elses expense.
No direct insults to a person.
No sly insults, it maybe that you indirectly insult someone. Try and reassure that person it was not an insult.
Post as if you are going to be a future moderator.
Debate the idea not the person.
An apology has to be sincere. Do not go out and immediately repeat bad behaviour that you have just apologised for. That will get you a carding faster then most behaviour.
----
Ways to exemplary behaviour.
Treat everyone like fellow heroes of literature. Add honourifics... for instance Sir, Lord, Lady, -san, -sama. The last two date back from the days this board was Shogun oriented (pun intended). For instance Kukri-san is a mild honorific while TK-sama is a higher one. Get into the habit here of being polite and you will find the whole site a lot more enjoyable.
Act with integrity. Integrity... do as you say, say as you do.
Post information not just smilies.

Good luck both of you. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
Papewaio you have the keys to the waving smiley cupboard? Remember that they can get a little excited when you open the door to get one out, so take your org issue cattleprod for protection http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-whip.gif
Gregoshi, you just had to find some way out of updating the 'new? read this' thread, didn't you? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/geishawink.gif

Thanks all. I already feel more learned reading the threads in the Monastery. I've this incredible urge to take up pipe smoking, sit by the fireplace in my slippers and smoking jacket and read The Twelve Caesars. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-book2.gif
Having Pape as an Entrance Hall mod is a step up for the forum. He intelligent, witty, worldly and knows the TW games better than I could ever hope - he can actually help new patrons. Plus he is something I'll, sadly, never be: an Aussie. How cool is that? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

My thanks to Greg: his style and consideration in moderation were one of the factors that has kept me coming back to the Org, the one online place I do come back to regularly.

Good luck in your future endeavor as EH moderator, Papewaio.
I'll also wish you luck with the weather situation over in Taiwan. How do you plan to deal with the typhoon? Is the area well-prepared?

It is windy and howling here on the west coast. It is not as bad though as the east cost and there is a mountain range inbetween.
Even went for my morning walk this morning... more like being out and about in New Zealand though then Taiwan.
