I would like assistance in creating a free for all mod, in order for battles like 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 to be played, I'm sure its not too complicated for a free for all system to be accomplished (or is it?)

I'm seeking help, so if you have any knowledge about the game and you are a good person post here to help explain what needs to be done, or simple contact my email thrillanchilla@hotmail.com which is also my MSN; thanks.

If any noble person would step forward and please help me with this im will to give 100% effort.

Thanks

You don't need a mod for that. Everyone should just attack click their allies http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-tongue2.gif

That "feature" was removed in VI because people accidentally attacked allies. CA never bothered with adding it as an extra gametype.

"hardcoded"...
This means there is no way to do it at all?

Ok so you tell me I cannot change the VI code, but is it possible to change the stats and units on the original MTW game and then eliminate the swipe to make it play similar to VI ? ?

Swiping occurs because of coding. You cannot change the coding http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-tongue2.gif

Stats had nothing to do with the swipe bug. As Duke John says it was coding...bad coding.

Maybe one way of killing swipe would be to reduce the charge value down to zero...but then it wouldnt be VI.

I remember someone had made a mod for MTW which claimed had eliminated the swipe as one of the features, am I correct?
Was it possibly a Mizu?

Anyway, even if that wasn't the case...
Is there any way to lesson the effect of the swipe that you can think of? (without messing the imbalance of the game really bad) (maybe some sort of tricky method?)

I think NC experimented with it. I believe he tried with other sizes of men but AFAIK it didnt really remove it.

Only option I can think of is to make charge value zero. But Im not sure if it will remove it. And it will change the balance of the game. Its easier just to buy VI http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

LOL I have VI and I play MP but Im trying to find one possible way to reduce swipe in MTW so I can play Free For all with my VI clan members in MTW with a reduced swipe :)

QUESTION: The swipe takes no effect if the cav are on hold formation?

And your VI clanmembers are not trustworthy enough to just agree that you won't abuse the swipe bug? Of course it still happens accidently but the greatest abuses are made on purpose.

Well if you only want to play with your clan members anyway, then swipe is not that big a problem is it?

Either play normal or make simple rules like cav always in minimum 2-3 ranks or something like that.

Heh, I can easily trust them I just wanted to kill the accidents... Anyway..

How can I go about changing the units to the way they are in VI? (Not including the viking era)

On a second note, AggonyDuck mentioned unit spacing was increased in the cav to reduce the swipe, is this and effective method?

You download GnomeEditor link (http://www.mizus.com/Files/k0rgs8gVt/Tools/Gnome_UnitBuildProj_Editorv2.0.zip) to make the changes in the Crusaders-unit-prod.txt file located in the main Total war folder. Remember to take backup of the file. You then swap that file before you start up 1.1 so you can play the mod.

Main difference between 1.1 and 2.01 is the increased morale, so give all units +2 morale and of course a few changes in unit cost (heavy cavalry slightly more expensive)

I dont know if increased spacing will reduce swipe. I guess by having fewer men on same frontage less men are killed by swiping units. But the swipe bug didnt have anything to do with spacing so its not gonna be removed by that change.

Well you cant kill the accidents. One problem was that cavalry (and infantry too) hitting an engaged unit in the rear sometimes could get heavy losses as the enemy unit routed into your unit. That was one side effect of the swipe bug.

In 1.1 a unit would get the charge bonus by just running while in 2.01 you now have to click and attack an enemy unit to get that charge bonus. Thats not something you can mod away.
