Greetings, all.

I've been playing MTW (and loving it) on my XP box for some weeks now. I recently did a full re-install of WinXP, including all windows updates, and I can't reinstall MTW.

When I try to install from the MTW CD-ROM, I get nothing. The Launcher comes up fine, but when I click on Install Medieval - Total War, the launcher goes away and I get an hourglass icon for a few seconds, then nothing. I've tried running Setup.exe from the dos prompt, but no messages appear.

Any thoughts on what could do this or how I could get more information?

Many thanks,
Ralph Dosser

you may want to post this to the Apothecary (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=SF;f=2) (tech help) forum. This thread might help. (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=2;t=13539) It mentions that you may need to install specific drivers for your CD/DVD player, the ones on the XP install could be just generic while you may need the ones for the specific maker of the drive.

Good luck

My good man i suffered exactly then same fate as you and was loading the game on another pc i have in the house and then transferring it across to my beast of a gaming pc.In the end in total frustration i decided to bite the bullet and reinstall XP from a different cd(have 2) this time and all my installation probs have disappeared.I changed my files from fat32 to NTFS and i have never looked back.
Hope that helps http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Aha. None of the (fine) ideas posted paid off, but here's what did: I uninstalled the directx 9 hotfix from MS Update, installed DirectX 8 from the installer cd, then tried again. It worked.

Thanks again to all.

Hello rdosser,

Welcome to the Org There is a range of MTW and non-MTW related halls here.

So are you an online player (MP) or at home player (SP)?

Have Fun,
