I'm taking a trip up to London over the weekend, and I've got time to see two museums. At the moment I'm planning to see the Imperial War Museum and Natural History Museum, but I'm open to suggestions as to others to see instead. Any ideas?

It's all good, they are free. Make sure you get there early and bring an unbrella. And watch out for people pickpocketing you or trying to get money off you.

The Imperial war museum is DEFINATELY worth a visit, it is in my opinion the best museum in London.

Try the British Museum. It's full off Roman Egyptian, Persion, Greek etc stuff...you can spend there all day. If you're going to the Imperial War museum you might as well go and see the HMS Belfast (at the Tower Bridge)...other than that, most museums are actually very interesting and well presented so you can always takeyour pick and most probably, you won't be disappointed.

Cheers guys. I definitely wanted to go see the natural History museum, and the second one was either the war museum or the British Museum. However, I think the British Museum may have to wait until next time. I've actually seen HMS Belfast several times-my Uncle's a naval buff, and he took me.

It's kind of ironic that the British Museum is full of stuff we knicked from elsewhere. Ah well.

Yes, I should probably go before those Elgin marbles get returned...

I think I'm too late but go to the Tower Armories.

Yes these are excellent if you are in to Medieval stuff... which you probably are if you are here.

Also, you can go over Tower Bridge... the upper part of it, which is interesting if you like your landmarks.

The Wallace Collection.

Masses of mediaeval arms and armour, plus loads of other stuff - the collections of a Victorian with too much time and money on his hands.

The Victoria & Albert if your a arty type and Science Museum for fun http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

But the best bet is the Imperial War Museum.

Apsley House at Hyde Park Corner across from the Wellington Arch (IIRC - a few miles north of Buckingham Palace). It was the Duke of Wellington’s London Home and has great collection of military memorabilia from the Napoleonic Wars, the silver tea sets that commemorate the victory at Waterloo, plus a great art collection. Good museum for 2-4 hours.

No, you're not too late, thanks for the suggestion. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I have been to the tower armouries before however. I should probably have included a list of where I have been...

I just found out that there's a RAF museum in London. Anyone been there?
