How Do I Dismount Knights

I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to explain to me how I go about dismounting knights.

on the battle map, righ-click on the unit icon at the bottom and select mount/dismount

Keep in mind only some mounted units can dismount and others can only dismount during a siege.

Don't you have to dismount before you click begin battle?

Yes Xiphias, on the screen where you choose order of reinforcements and get the summary before battle http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Only get that screen if you have installed the VI expansion. If not, you have to right click (I think) on the unit icon at the bottom of the screen. A menu comes up and you choose dismount. I think all cavalry can dismount in a siege, but only the more advanced cavalry (e.g. Chivalric Knights - I only ever play as the English, so I don't know about other units)can dismount in a normal battle.
