I had a 3v3 tonite & everybody apart from margykhan had at less 2 packs of monks each........Is there a trend here...or a reason....

Konnichiwa,

Monks are the strongest HTH unit in 103, even JHC needs a bit of luck to destroy them.

They have no armor though and die quite fast by arrow- and gunfire.

In 102, one used only H5 Nods, in 103 it pays to use a combo of Nods and Monks: Monks are stronger, and Nods are better armored and thus more suited to 'lead' the attack.

I don't think a monkrush will stand a chance against a balanced army: nags can hold monks up to 2 minutes while lsam and lcav kill them at a rapid rate. JHC and NC will charge their backs.

lol Tosa, you are right http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif Last time I played 1.03 I defeted an evil rusher with my balanced army in heavy rain! The evil rusher had a nagi/monk combo in the center and a ashi/monk combo on the wings. Luckily for me, the farmers of the evil rusher deserted him at the very first moment of the battle. The flanks were mine and to my surprise I managed to hold the center with only 2 ysams and with my monks taisho. With his flanks routed the evil rusher was defeated!
Though I have to add that it was a very close battle. I even gave the "soon out" signal to my allies. One of the ysams in the center had only 1 man left! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/eek.gif And it did not run!

Toda the answer is simple, monks go to war with the blessing of Buddha. How can they lose?
Cheetah what brave Y/Sam's you produce. I seem to remember a solitary YS general wandering around the battlefield looking for a unit to join. Who did he belong to? Toda!!
He found a place in KCDthbeforedishonor's army and went on to victory
Only one problem with monks...Expensive
Apart from that they fight like demons

In recent times,,,in need of armour change & a pair of roller boots 2 speed things up a tad !!!!
He has become so slack.....maybe i leave him at a camp site some place....
