View Full Version : Sicilian bugs?

Firstly, apologies if this has been raised before, but from looking through the forums I couldn't find anything on it.

Having recently re-installed VI and played it for a bit I thought I would go back to the original game and try out some of the lesser factions made playable. Before VI I had fiddled with the campaign files myself to play as the Sicilians, so I was familiar with the faction, this also after having fought with them on many occasions. So it came as a bit of a surprise when I noticed something which seemed slightly out of place. Namely Irish or Scottish forenames amongst the Sicilians, and a reference to them as being from "The Papal States" when receiving a proposal of marriage. [This seemed to be the case when playing from both Early and High periods in the game.]

I'm just assuming that this is a common bug, so is there a fix I should be aware of? Or is it just something to accept and get on with?

Thanks.

Greetings SSNeoperestroika

Now, that one is a set of minor bugs in the text files. I have fixed them in the yet unreleased modlet but not memorized what to change where. You'll need to hunt in the default_faction_specific and probably names files. Don't forget to backup them first.

Thinking again, the names bug is an easy one in names.txt: The name list association for the Sicilians should be 14 instead of 4 (or vice versa http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Copied this from the very first post I made over here: http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

Quote[/b] ]Don't know if this has been posted before, but I've noticed that there is a small mistake in the Default_heroes.txt file...

When playing a campaign with the Byzantines, I found out that the Sicilian kings (who I was constantly in war with) all had some very strange names (Adam, Aed, Aodh and Angus). Checked the internet on Sicilian history and found out that Sicilian kings were mostly named Roger, William or Charles.

Then I checked the Default_heroes.txt to find the problem, and I saw this entry:
SET_FORENAMES:: FN_SICILIAN 14 13

Forenames list 14 = Scottish names. This explained those weird names.
"14" should be replaced by "4", as this seems to be the "Sicilian" forenames list.

For the other problem, open Total War\Medieval\Loc\Eng\NAMES.txt and browse (or search) for :

Quote[/b] ]// To be concatonated with the above names.
@["of_culture"]
@{""}
@{", a Pagan faction."}
@{", a Catholic faction."}
@{", an Orthodox faction."}
@{", a Muslim faction."}

@["of_Clan_Names"]

@{" of The Almohads"}
@{" of The Byzantines"}
@{" of The Danes"}
@{" of The Egyptians"}
@{" of The English"}

@{" of The Golden Horde"}
@{" of The Hungarians"}
@{" of The men of Novgorod"}
@{" of The Papacy"}

@{" of The Swiss"}

The names should be in this order and then Sicilian princesses will show up on the marriage info parchment as Sicilians too, and not as princess Blablabla of the Papal States.
Worked fine in my games.

I've had that happen to me twice, Blodrast. Seems really odd

I imagine the funeral was somewhat odd. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif
