I've been coming here since late August 2000 or so, but I couldn't join until October 2000 (there was a revamp of the site going on). That means my 4th anninversary is coming up. I used to have a member number somewhere. It was 41 or something.

Like Tach says, the date to the left, under the icon, doesn't always tell the whole story. Nearly all members' start dates were reset in Oct 2000, but I joined early in that year under a different username.

I think I managed to register in late July or early August 2000 just before the board problems Tachi mentioned. I most read and rarely posted back then.

I got teased a little for my relatively small post count (see it compared with Gregoshi's for instance).

The quality of the board was really high in those days (less conservatives--j/k). Although it's not quite up to those standards today, it's still the best that I know of.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif Pah Tachi My post count is so high only because because I was moderator of the Entrance Hall for over a year and a half. Meeting, greeting and helping new patrons skyrocketed my post count. In the 2+ years before that I had only accumulated about 600 posts.

Yeap Like some members have mentioned, the date doesn't tell the whole story. I lurked these forums since I bought Shogun in Set 2001 (IIRC), but only registered in November 2003

April 17 2001,06:00 - I registered on. So that's what 3 years and 3 months.

However I started visiting the site when I started playing Shogun, around November / December 2000, but I did not register until April the following year.

I registered on August 18 2003,22:31 so it's about 11 months since then at the moment.
However, i had been reading these forums as a non-member since 2002 and i only got the desire to post something around the christmas of 2003. So, i'm only posting during the last 7-8 months and not all the time, which explains why my post-count is so low. In fact i've got an average of 0.54 posts per day.

With all that said, we must all rejoice with the fact that we're members of the best totalwar forum so far (in matters of discussion and information quality). Long live the .org http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/medievalcheers.gif

PS: No proof, whatsoever, has been discovered to support the suspicions that my later comment is the product of a generous bribe by the site's moderators....by the way, when did you say i'll become a senior member? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-clown.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

Well, Tachi at least your per diem post count is better than mine, which is actually less than 1.

My fascination with Total War started months before it was published. I was on the original forum and played the custom maps that Tosa and others made for us to use with the first Shogun demo. I have never played any other demo so much. We knew that this game was special and that its like had not been seen before.

I had no idea that years later I'd still be here waiting for Rome after playing Medieval in the meantime.

I concur. That demo is still the only one that has ever really grabbed my attention of any game. I find it amazing what we take for granted nowadays, and what a lot of people bitch about...about the game. In fact *roots about* that Shogun demo is still good. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

MTW already had been on the shelves for quite some time when I registered here in Jan 2003.

But you are right - I also got the impression that a lot of the people who registered at around that time became very regular posters at the Org.

I was a .Com refugee if some of the older patrons remember. I even started a thread on it in the Tavern as my first post, asking all the .Com refugees to post in it. It was promptly closed by Kukri.. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Anyway I lurked around the .com for a while, had a small acount there. But when it crashed (a virus wasn't it?) I looked for another site and there was the Org. I never looked back...
