New and already stuck.

Hi all,

I am new to this kind of games. Sure I have played the C&C games. But I think this is far better.

While I was bored and looked around the net. I notice Rome: Total War. It catch my interest. Read the faq and so on. So I decided to download the M:TW demo. I was instantly addicted to it. It was only a demo but I cant let it go. You asking why? I cant finished the last tutorial of the demo Battle of Jaffa. Aarggh. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

My army with there backs to the wall and heavenly outnumbered. Everytime I got slaughtered http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif . So my question is what do I not seeing it? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif One time I killed the enemy king. But that was only one time.

Plz can anyone help me? I promised myself if I can do this battle I am gonna buy M:TW. So help me buy the game.

That final battle is actually bad only on the paper, numbers don't count when the saracens have no morale. A bit like the battle description I'd suggest to first sit there next to the wall as long as possible and shoot with your archers. When there are enough troops surrounding, you should attack with all your units and try to kill Saladin quickly (or atleast make him rout). When you leave the wall you shouldn't acutally go back there again but instead chase the enemies of the field while they are still running.

The key to the battle is to use each of your units to their strengths. Archers on unarmored troops, crossbows on the armored guys, spears to hold the line, and your foot knights and knights to flank and crush the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. Frankly, your foot knights are your greatest asset in the battle. If you can use them to charge into a flank while protecting their own flank, they can easily take out hundreds of the enemy, while losing relatively few men. It tok me several tries to win the battle, but if you manage to use each man to their strength, you should be victorious. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

I ordered my spearmen to hold formations. Let the archers do their thing. And with luck on my side the enemy king broke through on the right flank and came close to the my spare group and my king and his knights. I immediately charge and killed Saladin. Enemy morale drop and ordered all my troop to attacked. Five minutes later I was victorious. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/medievalcheers.gif

I don't remember how I did it, it was soooo long ago. I think I killed Saladin... and got incredibly lucky http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

And if you thought beating that was cool, just wait until you're outnumbered 3 to 1 and beat the enemy with nothing but HAs
