Hi all, just wanted to say hi to everyone, i've been along reader but never felt the need or had the time for that matter to post here, but thats all changed and i am looking forward to participating in the many interesting threads here.

Anyway i made notes on last campaign, seeing if i can make the game more challenging and to mix it up up bit. Anyway, my notes where quite extensive and i was able to develop them into a story. Here the reign of King William II. Its probably quite boring because of the rules i set myself.
-Retreat back to England abandoning all French provinces
-You can defend youself against attacks, but don't expand outside the British Isles.
-Provinces can only be won by crusades outside of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. (These must be directed towards the holy land, no crusading for Kharzar, etc.)

I've finished the first 2 reigns, but i will just post the first for now and see what kind of response i get.
Anyway hope you all like it, and if you don't who cares, its my story.

============================================================
King William II sat upon his throne, as the new king of England. This was a joyous as well as a mournful occasion for him and all his kingdom. His people had just lost their King, and no ordinary King at that, he had conquered England, expanding Norman Rule, becoming a major power in the world. Could the new King eclipse his father’s legacy with his own. Only time will tell.

According to his maps, his kingdom spanned over much land, all the way from south of France in Aquitaine to Northumbria. In England he had the Welsh to the West and the Scots to the north. Their Celtic origins made them fierce adversaries, but a more immediate danger was the French to the South surrounding his lands in France. To the astonishment of his advisors, the King made the decision to pull out France and concentrate on uniting the People in Britain. His advisors and military commanders disagreed with this course of action, but none dared to refute the King. His reputation filled all but the most bravest of men full of dread.

He sent instructions to local nobility commanding his lands on his behalf to start building programs, starting with watch towers and border forts to keep an eye on his and to discourage an rebellious nobles who may challenge his kingship, or simply seeking independence now that his Father has died. Also the taxes were driven up to fund the new building programs

He ordered his troops to move up through English held territory in France, slowly making their way towards Flanders, while personally leading a small force of his own to take the province. The French gave up Flanders leaving control to the English King. Control of Flanders would provide safe passage for the rest of his troops to cross the English Channel. Meanwhile back in Aquitaine, the Troops had destroyed the all English buildings and fortifications there as they marched towards the Kings forces.

The King’s first step to uniting the peoples back home in England was buying up the Welsh forces and the loyalty of the Welsh people. These Celts may be descendants of barbarians, but money is a universal language. Hopefully the Scots will be as easy to assimilate into English rule.

In 1089AD, the future King, Prince William come of age and a great celebration was held in his honor as well as the bribing the Scottish army into joining the English forces. This was a joyous occasion indeed as King William III had now successfully gained full control over the British Isles, all that stood in his way of a United Kingdom was the Irish. However the future king killed a servant at the celebration for spilling his drink over his lap. His pride had gotten the better of him. Was this, the first sign of yet another King that would use dread to rule over his people. His instinct to kill people didn’t feel the guests with much hope. Meanwhile all the troops in France had made it safely to Flanders, without any French retaliation.

The most important thing about being King is not to conquer people, wage wars or worship God, but to secure your throne for future generations. The King had promptly sent out emissaries to scour the world to a wife for his Son, so that they may bear Sons to be future rulers. They found the daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor. The marriage between the future King and the Princess gave security to the throne as well as gaining an ally, an ally with the largest force in all of Europe.

As the years passed more alliances were made and the French slowly regained the formerly English held lands in France. More heirs were born, and more marriages arranged. The Kings large Building programs had brought trade to the country, just before his death in 1113AD. He had left his Son Prince William III with a Kingdom that was growing in riches. And while King William II was a Strict and unforgiving leader, he will always be remembered as King William II, the magnificent builder.

I'm enjoying this so far, just the kind of stuff I like to read, keep it coming. What are William II's plans for expansion in the future, and what methods is he going to use to bring them to fruition?

Hello z|co, welcome to the Org. If you are interested in story writing, you should visit the Mead Hall forum. It is a subforum of the Org devoted to story telling, and can be found in the story/PBM forum: Mead Hall (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=SF;f=24).
If you ask the moderators friendly, they will move the topic to the Mead Hall. Junior patrons can post replies to topics in the Mead Hall, though they cannot start new topics.

Your story is nice, but it is a bit detached. You could focus it more on the character of the king, for example. I think that the story would improve if you did that.
