I am liking a lot of the features they showed in that video.

As for the battle footage, maybe they were playing with the game speed, but some movement (marching) seemed fairly accelerated and combat at times seemed to lack any energetic fighting - at least compared to STW and MTW.

Last comment, the music in the video didn't do much for me. I'm hoping it was some filler music and not the in-game stuff.

Despite the two above nit-picks, RTW is looking mighty fine indeed. Great work CA I do look forward to enjoying the fruits of your long labour.

Nice vid, I not really loving the cockney geezer voice-acting on those pre-battle speeches though - i guess sean pertwee wasn't available this time... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

However the rest of the game looks excellent. I particularly like the way that hoplites fight with swords when they are out of the phalanx. Now lets see, how many hours to release? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/handball.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif

On the contary i loved the pre battle speech, and especially like the way in which where the battle map corresponds to the campaign map. In fact everything looked awesome. I'm glad diplomacy has been expanded upon and can't wait to take Ptolemy to victory.

VERY cool http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif Thanks so much, Web

And hey folks, don't forget Saturday JULY 17 for RTW to be highlighted on the History Channel (http://www.wired.com/news/games/0,2101,63455,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_2) (As pointed out by Wired News and Ypoknons (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=15;t=18395;hl=rtw))

We're gonna need new Roman smilies http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/medievalcheers.gif

Hold the phone - I dug deeper and couldn't find the show on TV Guide for next weekend (that's as far as it goes). However at the History Channel, it looks like the Decisive Battles on Rome will air on Friday July 23 at 9 pm, details here (http://www.historychannel.com/global/listings/series_showcase.jsp?EGrpType=Series&Id=10964312&NetwCode=THC). Hey we'll probably be able to buy the History Channel DVD if we want

If you watched the Time Commanders video found here (http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/games/nofrag/potm/pics/) you can see in the battle of Raphia how elephants are easily brought down when using the correct methods. In the battle a unit of elephants are taken out using some light infantry to tie them up and then javelins and archers to help the light infantry out. In fact the light infantry seems to have struggled to totally decimate the elephants as a direct counter, but they weren't torn apart like heavy inf. would be. The arrows and javs did a fair amount of damage as well. What I can't wait for is lining up a massive pike wall and coaxing the elephants to charge into it. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif

edit - the other one is down? this one isn't (http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/games/nofrag/potm/pics/RomeVid.avi)
