I'm probably just retarded:

I can't bribe the Irish - my Emissaries just sit there and looks at them across the ocean. I have ships all through there so I can invade but I want to bribe them, not invade.

What is going on? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif

they need to have a port constructed for a strategic agent to move there. Strategic agents can jump from any port on the map to another (even if you dont have ships there) but they cannot move to an island province that has no port.

Invade it's the only way just don't bring your KING cos he will be stranded there until you have constructed a port.

I always lead the invasion of Ireland with a Prince - preferably not the heir or spare son. Third or fourth son that stands to inherit nothing is the best choice.
This is because Ireland will be isolated for a few years, and the Princes high dread helps to persuade them to farm with those pitchforks, instead of trying to stab you with them.
This works fine because the early period English royalty tends to have extremely high dread.

You could just edit in a port for Ireland, but that takes away the fun of running down the paddys with your Royal Knights :)

But be careful if Ireland rebels. I once had a 3 star emissary get stranded on Ireland for about 30 years. Couldn't leave because port was destroyed and could't bribe rebels cause didn't have enough florins. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif
