Sorry for the underlining, but people who generalise everyone on the British Isles as British tend to annoy everyone who knows better.
It's generally a bad idea to tell a Welshman/Scotsman/Englishmen that they're in the same classification as a Welshman/Scotsman/Englishman. (Delete as applicable).

Is it not related to Deutsch, reflecting the common descent of the modern German and Dutch languages?
Anyhow, I'm English, living in Scotland (so I call myself British https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ).
Scotland (along with England and Wales) is a constituent part of Great Britain, which is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Thus NI is part of the UK but not of GB (and certainly not of E, W or S https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ).
E, W and S tend to be called nations while NI tends to be referred to as a province. NI is not quite the same thing as Ulster. NI is only 6 of the 8[?] counties of Ulster; hence a favourite description of NI among Irish republicans is The Six Counties. Northern Irish politics is, of course, rather complex.
Scottish politics is more complex these days too, post-devolution... I now have three parliamentary representatives (Scottish, UK, EU) and, sadly, I can't name any of them https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

yep, it`s a province, Ulster is the term for 9 of the counties in the ISLAND of Ireland, the confusing bit is that 6 of the counties belong to the UK and the other 3 belong to Eire, this can make things slightly schitsopherenic (spelling) for everyone involved. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-confused.gif https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif
NI politics are not complex, but they are quite insane.
though, on the plus side; nobody can ever say we are to blame for voting in any Conservative or Labour government, as we can`t vote for them over here anyway. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I used to run a board that was based on IB, but we had too many problems expecially as regards database corruption and dodgy updates that do more harm than good, so we changed to phpBB which is totally free and highly customisable. Never had any problems ever since. Highly reccommended. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
