STW Patch is being a pain.

Hello,
Looks like a great forum you all have here with endless amounts of information. :)
However I couldn't find the info I needed so i'm asking here.
My problem is this: I can install STW and it plays alright but soon as I install V1.11 or V1.12 patch the .exe file doesnt seem to work and i get a 'cannot locate disc' error which tells me to insert my cd into the cd-rom drive and try the application again.

hmm let's see here..I have tried installing both patches at once and singley as recommended.. i've reinstalled about ten times tonight...my cd-rom drive works just fine (its the application getting corrupted somehow by the patch i think) ..umm the patch is coming off of totalwar.com and not a thirdy party web site. About all I thought of for troubleshooting so if anyone here can help me with some sort of solution it would be appreciated so much. Thank you.

Windows XP
512 ram
Geforce2 MX

Welcome to the org.... https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif ...let me c, about the patch, its been a few years since i installed it on stw but from what i remember u install it to the stw folder and make sure that the game isnt running...

Yeah I had an error with 1.12 and it turned out I was trying to install with game running.
