View Full Version : Modding castle defenses

Greetings,
I'm trying to modify the fortification defenses, so that they are practically non-existant, and that the castle defenders actually have to DEFEND rather than magic men in the walls killing the invading army for them. So far I've tried changing ****_from_model values in the projectilestats.txt file so that those projectiles shouldn't shoot further than a stones throw, and should have been about as effective as spitballs...but, when I tested it, they were still just as lethal as ever. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif

Do the castles and other fortifications use a different projectile than ***_from_model? Or is there somewhere that I can remove them completely?

You can remove them completely I think. I don't have MTW on this PC, but IIRC you'll find a folder called "Models" in the MTW main folder. In this folder you'll find folders named after the different cultures, each containing the files for the buildings.

So lets say you want the Castle walls on western European castles to be without any archers. Go to the folder named something like
"Models/western_european/Castle_wall"
and open the "CastleWall.txt" file there.

Then remove the lines beginning with "weapon" and save.

I think that should work.
