I'm so mad...

Okay, I figured that the Gnome editor would allow me to change a few things to how I would prefer the game to been but after tweaking the game so that all cath factions could build gothics, I tried to start the game saying that an Egyptian bowyer building had been altered. I did not even go near the column and row it specified, but I figured, okay, I'll reload the defaults and try to start the game. That should stop any problems. Then it became more frustrating...

I tried to start again and it said something to the effect that row 41 and column 8 of the building production file was messed up, but after looking at the Gnome Editor, it only has 40 rows. ARRGH So I reset all three files that can be edited by the editor to their default, but it says the same thing. Thankfully I backed up the game prior to screwing around with the files, but I really would like to know what happened to mess me up in the first place. i have experienced similar problems with units...only when messing with FN_FREE21-FN_FREE30 things...

I have had some problems with the Gnome Editor too but it has normally turned out to be my fault in the end.
One thing i do know is that when it refers to a problem on a line it is almost ALWAYS on the damn line above the one referred to.

I can't even get Gnome to work. I can't find the crusade_units file or any other files in the main MTW folder. Surely they're there, but I can't find them.

Well, I went back and replaced the files that were messed up. After re-editing the files, they worked like a charm... Gnome Editor sometimes copies part of the last lines at the end. This is a bug in the coding. When you are done using Gnome then open the file with Notepad and check wether there is some garbage text at the end, delete it.

This might have happened. Either that or the defaults are wrong.
