So, I see the box at Best Buy - but it is a "pre-order" box with a "Battle Map". The map is repo of the strat map w/ the provincial boundaries and cities listed - and not much else I'm afraid. There are 5 pictures of ancient wonders on the bottom - the same ones posted at the .COM - and the right hand side has about 14 unit icons - these look to be updated ones (they look very good) and are what we will see when we click on a unit in the troop queue.

BTW, "pre-ordering" consisted of me giving BB $10.62 - which will then be subtracted from the full purchase price when I actually buy the game. BB better get it the first day it ships

Man, I would do that too, but the best buy in Lexington is uber-corrupt. They have 12 pending investigations on them with the better business bureau. They are more likely to take my 10 bucks and kick me out the door. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-furious3.gif

haha, they would say "10 dollars please" and when i come to pick the game up how ever long later, they would say "Sorry, you didnt pay the whole price, contract void"

The battle map sounds better than the "exclusive" DVD I got for plopping down $5 for a RTW pre-order with EB Games. Wanna trade? https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-deal2.gif

what does the exclusive DVD contain at EB? I preordered at my local EB a week ago, and didnt get any DVD. From the sounds of it I'm not missing much though.

You know - I would trade - but the cost of postage would be more than the worth of either item.

Well, the exclusive DVD is a 2 minute "news break" type video. That is T-W-O minutes. Oh, and it also includes the official trailer (2 minutes), 10 screen shots (3 "exclusive"), 10 images of concept art and a trailer for Call of Duty: United Offensive. If it didn't have a nice RTW picture on the disk, it would be a coaster right now.

ah_dut, I never pre-order either, but did it as a favour for a friend. He wanted the exclusive video - we both thought it would be something on the scale of that wonderful 16 minute tutorial-like video that USMCNJ mentioned. Our mistake.

On a side note, that very same day I pre-ordered RTW, another friend asked me to join him in pre-ordering a CD of our favourite music artist from Amazon.com so the order would exceed $35 and get him free shipping. Afterwards, I realized that meant I won't get the CD until the day after he does. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-surprised.gif That is two pre-orders in one day, neither of which worked out like I had planned. Oh the things I do for friends. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif Now it is back to "never pre-order" again.

wish I lived where you guys do. Stores in Seattle generally don't carry the game or sell out before i get there, and I work downtown.

I spent three weeks driving and calling around town to get Medieval, most stores didn't have and hadn't heard of it.

I'll preorder to be sure. Although I'm not happy with the more colourful appearance of some units...

Maybe historically accurate would have left them drab and boring. i can't imagine Egyptian spearmen would have been terribly impressive or cool to look at. Half naked guys running around in towels carrying spears.

We'll stop right there and be grateful for the stupid hats.

You can usually preorder on the store and they will have one for you when the game arrives. I think the Gamestop near me asks $10 down for that.
