Hi, I just arrived here, so I thought I'd make a public announcement, as stated in the please read this first.
So, I understand that only 4 rooms are open to me now, and there is a limit to how many posts I can make, and only this room allows me to make new topics.
Also I understand that rising between different grades of user depends on the quality of posts, and thus everyone's aim should be to act civil and post only if there is something to be said that was not said before.
What I still am not quite sure is, this room, what are acceptable topics, for example, is religion and politics forbidden, and where the lines go. For example, if politics was banned, it might still be ok to post about historical politics, as it's not considered directly political, but rather history and views upon history.
And like I said, it would go without saying that I should try to be as civil and polite as I can be. I hope I can avoid getting into trouble with the rules and hope that I wouldn't upset anyone.
So hi everyone https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
welcome massamuusi-san it's relatively simple, with regards to politics, until u get promoted to the full member status, u can't post in the tavern tavern. this is for politics. However, here in the EH anything really is relevant as long as it aint flaming or porn i'm not sure anybody really cares if it's politics. Religion is acceptable as is moral debate, i mean we've had debates on prostitution, drugs is god a pedophile(this got closed down) but you get the picture, pretty much anything is acceptable as long as it's civil and well thought out.

Greetings, massamuusi. ah_dut answered your question.
In general, Entrance Hall entries should have some relevance to Medieval: Total War.
As you can see, though, that's a pretty wide range for a game.

Watch out in the tavern though, from looking at some Watchtower posts you would think that the mods over there were having to dress in battle armor and call in artillery strikes. Phrases such as We might have to use the nuke I think might be fairly common. I don't post in the Tavern all that much though, I find it a dark and evil place. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Oh yea, and hi. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
Welcome to the forums, massamuusi
Hope you enjoy it around here, I sure know I have, even limited to the Entrance hall as I am.
It's still a great place to hang around, and look forward to your promotion, be it soon or ehm, very, very distant. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif
See you around.

The forum rules are just common sense be nice to each other rules that most people don't even have to give a second thought to. There are generally three areas where people get into trouble around here, they are 1) profanity, 2) not using the emoticons to help clarify meaning (...but I was only joking) and 3) they don't realize that this is an international forum with people from all types of cultures, religions and political standings. Simple stuff, right? https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Ok, just want to make sure I don't miss anything- that'd be just unpleasant, don't you think? https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-toff.gif
Hmm... Seems that it'll be a long walk to get miself my own avatar... I'll tell in advance it's that coat of arms that's on my profile.
I guess I can live with being nice to other people, even though that'll be so very hard for me, being naturally evil person who wishes nothing more than evil and suffering into this world. As you can probably tell already by my vulgar use of language, blimey https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif

One thing I can tell you for certain: funny goes a lo-o-o-o-o-ong way here. For example:

Looks like you'll fit right in m8.
Welcome to the Org massamuusi
Welcome to the Org, massamuusi.
Other's have answered your question already, but I would like to add that it is perfectly acceptable to debate 'hot' topics in the Entrance Hall, as long as you keep it respectful. There have been discussions here about gun control, creationism, the war in Iraq. I have once participated in a very long thread about atheism with A. Saturnus, Papewaio, Pindar and Brutal DLX.

You need to have 500 posts or have been a member (not a patron) voor 4 moths to be able to select a avatar from a list of custom avatars provided by the Org. However, nothings keeps you back from making your own. You can even host them on the Org. Just contact assistant-moderator Voigtkampf.
You can find details about custom-avatar use in this thread: Custom avatar and sig pictures (https://forums.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=6;t=23529). If you can't read this thread (it's located in the tavern. What happened to the EH version anyway?) I can copy it here, but it is rather a lot of text.
@Ludens, didn't they make custom avatars available to all?
@massamuusi, nice of you to join us. you'll find that the people around here are nice and the mods don't call in nuke strikes (not too many, at least). most of the rules are common sense like respect other people's opinion etc.

TosaInu made the pre-set avatars available for all members, but this created a lot of confusion. So he changed it back again to the old system with the added rule that you could also pick an avatar from the pre-set list if you had been a member for four months.

i just though the mods didn't have the guts to nuke us all https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
