What patches do I need for STW

I have just STW and not any of the add ons. I purchased it last week and I am loving it.

However I have noticed some crashes sometimes when my ninja go in for a kill or sometimes when I am attacking a castle to end the seige.

What patches do I need for this, I am slight confused by the different patches out there. I am not playing online...yet. I hear of some 1.03 patch that makes musketeers all powerful, and then another after that which balances this out again.

I just want what ever patch is out there that will stable the SP game for me with out making any unit all powerful, it seems in the battles I have had the units seem pretty well balanced.

You can download patch v1.02 from .com site.

1.03 is not a patch, but an alternate set of stats you can opt to use from time to time in lieu of the game stats.

Game stats --> 1.02 --> All competitive games

Player stats --> 1.03 --> SP + custom games and friendlies.

You can swap between original (1.02) and custom (1.03) while online using Vanya's legendary stat swapper http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif or other similar DOS-based thingies made by some mortal...

A game online must be stat-homogeneous or non-host parity players get sync dropped.

Install the v1.02 patch which you can get here at the org or from the official www.totalwar.com (http://www.totalwar.com) site. There are two: one for Warloards and one for Mongol Invasion. It sounds like you have Warlords Edition, so get the ShogunW102.exe.

Get Vanja's stat swapper here at the org. Make sure the install path is set to your main Warlords game folder. After installing it, run the swapper. You'll see three possible stat choices: v101, v102 and v103. Use the v101 stat to have the unit balance that you now have without the v102 patch. Use v102 to have the unit balance that comes with the v102 patch. It's quite different than v101. Don't use v103 for the single player campaign because the yari ashigaru unit has been weakend too much and won't work properly at low honor.

also...do you have the original shogun total war, or do you have shogun total war warlord edition? i think they need different patches as well.

Thanks alot for all the help so far everyone, you guys are by far the best gamers I have ever seen on any games message board...and believe me I am a MAJOR gamer.

I do not have the warlords edition, my book just says shogan total war. So taking your advice I downloaded the 1.12 patch for STW. From what I read 1.02 is not for my version.

For WE is there just an upgrade I can get or do I need to go buy a whole new game for it? I dont mind getting the game as a whole, the MTW beta sold me on this genre of game so here I am http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Sorry RangerLee. I thought you had the Warlords Edition. For original STW it is the v1.12 that you want. The economic cheating by the computer clans was toned down in that patch and the computer diamyos are supposed to be less suicidal. I think that crash you're getting will probably stop happening as well. Also, you must have the v1.12 to play online since everyone else is using v1.12. The unit balance is not changed by the v1.12 patch.
