Easiest way to use the Golden Horde

I would like to use the Golden Horde and wanted to know the easiest way to mod them into the game. Thanks.

That would be in the dungeon section. But as a new patron it is hard to get in... the entrance hall can help with most of your basic needs and I will note you down on the tablet

you mean make them playable? either change them from FT_MINOR to FT_MAJOR or use the -ian switch to start MTW and then ctrl+shift+6 for the GH.

Just kill Khan as quickly as possible when they attack and they all go rebel. Then, if your economy is strong enough, buy them all up All of the sudden you control the Horde

I wiped the Byzantine Empire off the map using the Horde once. It was fun.

True. But you can pick them up kind of at your leisure. They aren't terribly expensive, but they are normally way out of reach of the A.I. in terms of bribing them. Besides whose gonna do it? The Ruskies?

-ian switch, could someone please elaborate. Since we are unable to use the search on the forums I have to ask a lot of questions.

If you're using Windows:

Make a shortcut on your desktop to play the game, if you didn't during installation.

Right click on the shortcut and go to Properties. Find where it shows the command line for the program. It should say something to the effect of 'Target'. There will be the command line for the program, which should looksimilar to this (probably not exactly the same though, because I have multiple hard drives and like to organize stuff differently):

D:\MTW\Medieval_TW.exe -strictserver

It won't have the -strictserver there if you don't have Viking Invasion. If that's the case, just ignore the -strictserver thing.

Simply add -ian to the end. It will look like this:

D:\MTW\Medieval_TW.exe -strictserver -ian

Save it, and start the game just like normal using that shortcut.

Once in the game, and the Mongols are on the board, hit Shift+6. You are now the Mongols. If the Mongols aren't there yet and you try it, it won't do anything.

You can switch to any other faction (except the Swiss) using the numbers. It goes 1-0, and then Shift to do 11-20.

For example, 9 is Italians. Shift+9 is Papacy. The playables are pretty much in alphabetical order. 1 will be Rebels, and then 2 is Almohads, 3 Byzantines, and so on.

A couple friendly bits of advice when using -ian though:

1. Do not hit A. That puts it into Autorun, and it's a pain to get out of it (I haven't figured out how, I just keyboard mash until it stops).

2. Do not play using Glorious Achievements. If you are one of the non-playable factions (such as Burgundy, Mongols or early Russia), it will cause the game to crash if you click on the GA points chart. Also, if you are the Mongols, looking at the info screen for some buildings may cause it to crash (I don't remember which building it was that did it to me).

In addition to allowing you to switch factions, -ian also lets you hit G to show the whole map (similar to the .matteosartori. cheat if you are familiar), and it unlocks the battle screen so you can zoom in closer or zoom out farther, and you can move your view out of the normal bounds.

here is an other way go to your my computer go to program files. then go medieval total war next you have to go to cam map then starpos then pick your period go down until you find FN GOLDEN_HORDE_FT_MINOR change minor to major there you go

just a question on the -ian thing, i have never been able to get the game to startup when i type it in.. anything i need to do in particular?

just use FN GOLDEN_HORDE_FT_MINOR , change it so it sayFN GOLDEN_HORDE_FT_MAJOR, it's easy and safe, plus while you are doing that, do the same thing to other factions like the pope, i once kicked ass as the pope https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
