Does anyone else find the majority Heavy weight bouts in boxing dull? they just end up locked together for 5 to 6 rounds untill they start tireing then one big punch floors someone

Not as entertaining as watching a frogsplash from a 15' steel cage now thats entertainment

I wouldn't say heavyweight boxing was dull but I know what you mean. Boxing is better at lighter weights where neither boxer can floor the other with one punch, you get a lot more movement too. I'm really surprised someone in the other thread said boxing was boring/not skillful because there are only a few basic punches. Its what you do with them and how you move that makes the skill.

Wrestling is all very well but its not a sport in the same way (I mean professional wrestling)is it? So I'd say its not as entertaining because you know its scripted. At least they are honest about it and call it sport entertainment and not sport though.

Is there actually any professional wrestling that is a real sport (ie where each person tries to win and does real moves not showy stuff where the other person is jumping for all the throws).

I prefer true wrestling to boxing, but not that TV crap, as has been said by some before, that's entertainment not sport.

I like to watch boxing. Unfortunately, you'll have to pay $$$ to watch the good heavyweight fights, as pay channels like HBO, PPV, and Showtime have the title matches. The ESPN fights are alright to watch. They seem sleazy at times, but that's a part of boxing. I've seen the judges vote for the hometown guy and not even know the right rules.
Of course the funniest thing is when the main event or any other 10-12 round match ends at an early round. They then have to fill up time with other fights involving boxers that look like people off the street.
I prefer boxing due to the real damage of it. In fact, I have a hunch that boxing is more damaging than a real UFC-type fight. Being able to grapple, kick, and all the other things might make fights more decisive and have less total damage. In boxing, you are forced to pummel your opponent in a specific way, ensuring that the head and body take huge amounts of damage.

Not actually wrestling but the Unlimited fighting championship and Bushido among others are real fighting. You can use boxing, wresting and a combination of any marshal arts you like.

Look

Here (http://www.ufcfightnews.com/ufc/history.html)

This is real fighting. I would say the majority of the matches are won either with a wresling submission move or tying a guy up and pummeling him in the head while hes down. Truly brutal stuff.

But boxing doesn't allow you to hold onto the other fighter's head and wail on their face, bring your knee down repeated on the back of their skull, drop them on their neck, or to pop their wrist, elbow, shoulder, knee, or ankle out of the socket.... (hmpf, sorta makes the sport sound sadistic)

Of course, but whether or not its entertaining depends on the fighters and situation (of course, its the same with boxing. I just feel that in MMA, there's a bit more variety and potential to be entertaining.)

And my overall stance, as I said in the last topic, is that you have to go to Japan for entertaining combat sports as of late. State-side I'll pick mainstream boxing over mainstream pro-wrestling.

both are boring

boxing = 12 rounds of two grown men hugging each other until the time for that round runs out

wrestling = fake, fixed, unbelievable competition. ie: when they are supposedly punching each other - in actuality their hands do not even touch each other's skin at all. another example: whenever one guy is going to slam the other one, the one to be slammed jumps into it so that the slammer does not even have to lift him. wrestling is far too fake to be entertaining

the only entertaining parts about either of them are the press conferences in boxing, and the verbal insults before matches in wrestling. the boxing or wrestling itself is actually just boring filler IMO
