A treat for all you LOTR fans. Sideshow WETA have released pics of the piece to come with the EE giftset and it is to be....Minas Tirith Looks fantastic, and Minas Morgul is a companion piece that you can send away for at extra cost. This thing could go for £100 on its own, let alone £40 in a box set with the film. Do me a favour: if you're planning on getting the EE, go the extra £15 and get the giftset instead of the standard film. The Minas Tirith statue is surely worth that much. The giftset will also come with a bonus DVD concerning Howard Shore's majestic shore, and extracts from his live performances.

yup met him at... *cue drumroll* abbey road. I used to sing in a pretty(at least in classical circles) famous choir. Anyways if you want proof, I trust BKB u have the 4 disk set of LOTR the Two Towers, if you do, disk 4 music, keep watching about half way through, u'll get a mention of Ben delmaestro a fat italian kid, ( my friend) and the Oratory school schola, i'm in that, a pic will come up, i'm the only chinese boy in the picture, it's a touch old but well https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I've never really held with the special edition DVDs for LOTR-it seems to me like a cynical corporate ploy. It irritates me that to see the films as they were intended I have to pay extra.

Good stuff

BTW, I did see The Lord of the Rings Symphony performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra back on July 13. Alas, Howard Shore was not there due to a scheduling conflict. Quite disappointing as I was looking forward to showing him my appreciation for his music with a long standing ovation. Anyway, the concert was fantastic - the instruments magnificent and the vocals phenominal Norwegian singer Sissel provided the voice for Gollum's Song and Into the West. She nailed the former perfectly and her version of the latter was every bit as good as Annie Lenox's. I nearly broke down in tears when they performed the piece the accompanied Gandalf's death fall. My friend next to me admitted the having the same feelings. The performance garnered a very long and very enthusiastic standing ovation at the end. If you get a chance and it comes to a city anywhere near you, go see it You won't regret it.

Why? Because he is a kiwi??
The guys at WETA are great, had one of them speak at school along with John Rhys-Davies' body double (he did 80% of the actual acting running etc.), it was really good. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Them statues look wicked - to bad i'm broke at the moment https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif

Is this Sissel called Kyrkjebø (or something like that) as a last name?

I think it is her, you are talking about. Tall and short dark hair?

peter jackson is evil, i hate him not ebcause he is a kiwi, remember i myself lived in NZ till the beginning of this year, but he is from wellington, which automatically makes me dislike him (wellington stole aucklands position as capital (im from auckland)) but not only this but he proceeds to bring more and more glory to wellington, glory which should have gone to auckland, i spit on him

we hates him so much dont we precious.....

i saw john rhys Davies at auckland airport once (he was coming in for a convention on sci fi stuff) i said hey to him and he didnt even turn his head. ****** ******

Since there's been some interest I'll post this. At the San Diego Comic Con a preview of the EE was shown, and here's some of the stuff we can expect in the 50 minutes of additional footage. I didn't write this by the way:

Warning: Pretty Thorough Spoiler

-Frodo and Sam at Cross Roads
-Mouth of Sauron w/ Mihril Coat
-Gandalf vs. the Witch King (WOW) The Witch King's blade catches fire.
-Saruman of course. He was on top of Orthanc. He gives a speal and says 'You are all going to die.' He also slaps Grima. He shoots a firebolt at Gandalf.
-More Faramir and Denethor dialogue. More Boromir flashbacks?
-Faramir/ Pippin talk
-Faramir and Eowyn at Houses of Healing
-White tree shots
-Major scene in Paths of the Dead. Thousands of skulls pour from the walls.
-Aragorn and Co. see Corsair ships
-King of the Dead charging
-Eowyn fighting Gothmog
-Brutal Mumak trampling
-More Nazgul swooping
-Sam and Frodo in orc regiment
-Sam and Frodo on Mt. Doom looking to sky
-Cirith Ungol shots
-Lots more siege of Gondor orc fighting
-Eomer finding Eowyn
-Eowyn in a robe lying down in Edoras, grabs Aragorn's hand
-Merry bowing to Theoden
-Eomer and Aragorn in Rohirrim Camp
-Gandalf and Pippin in Minas Tirith
-Aragorn goes into Gondor throne room along, looks into Palantir. Shows Sauron Anduril.
-Another battering ram on Gondor gate
-Billy Boyd told us about a scene. After Pelennor Fields everyone goes back to Gondor..but Merry is still missing. Pippin looks all day, never giving up. He finds Merry (scene in theatrical, except its night).

Din, I think we are talking about the same person, but the program did not give her last name...just Sissel. The program says she was discovered by the world during her performance in the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Games. She also gained some international notice from millions of movie-goers for her solos in James Horner's Titanic film score.

She's got a beautiful voice and is very attractive from the picture in the program. I was just a little bit too far away to really appreciate her looks - which is okay as her voice more than compensated for the diminished visual. https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

ah_dut, you know I'm going to have to hunt you down on that disc 4 of TTT extended version, don't you?

BKB, thanks for that listing of added scenes for the EE version of RotK. I hadn't heard much and kept wondering what new stuff they would add. It sounds like they are covering a lot of things that were glossed over in the theatrical version. BTW, I personally am going to look for Merry and Pippin being taller thanks to the Ent-draught in TTT extended version. In the theatrical version, all the hobbits were about the same height as was apparent when Aragorn and all of Gondor bow to the 4 hobbits near the (second https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ) end of the movie. This is expected as in the theatrical TTT, Merry and Pippin did not drink the Ent-draught. I'm hoping Jackson did not overlook this detail in the extended version of RotK.

Yes, that's her. Hmm, didn't know she also did LotR songs. But the two songs are her type of singing style so I quess I shouldn't be too surprised.

She didn't do any of the songs for the actual movie soundtrack. She is just doing them for the symphony tour and I'm not sure it is even for all the stops on the tour.

Yes, I know she didn't do them for the movies. What I meant was that the two songs you mentioned suits her singing style, so I shouldn't be surprised she agreed to sing them.

Apparantly the LOTR music works very well if you import it into Morrowind...
