First read this link (http://www.gameaxis.com/articles/view.gax?id=362&gid=648&pg=1)
As you know Macedon isn't a playable faction in the imperial campaign but, from the interview:
Cita[/b] ] Alternatively there will be a short campaign option for each faction - for instance the House of Julii must conquer Gaul, the Seleucids must crush the Egyptians, Macedon must consume Greece and the House of Scipii must defeat Carthage
Now just speculate ...

Some time ago there was an idea about smaller game maps that you would need to conquer to proceed to the big picture map (for example a 'greece map' a 'gaul' map etc). Couldnt that be it? If it is i think its cool. Anything would be better than the console feeling of just unlocking factions by conquering the plain vanilla map.

I am fairly dissapointed that Macedonia is not playable, but since the other choices (those regarding units) of CA are so humorous and fancy, I can't really complain https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I wonder if the unlocking feature shall be the #1 Point for Nagging when the game ships, or if we are going to carry on squabbling about catz, dogz, pigz, pink flamingoz, women, amazon women, nuclear onagers, machine guns balistae and the likes https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-jester.gif

I was saddened that Macedon wasn't playable, but I guess the Selucids make up for that with their cracking unit roster...

There will probably be a way to mod that

Wow, they have Thrace as a non player faction..
The North of Greek looks to be nonplayer heavy with Thrace, Dacia, Macedon and Scythia.

I smell an expansion strategy here. Lets hope the non-playability will indeed be modable and not hardcoded in some way.

They have anounced RTW as the most modable game of the serie.
It will be a no sense if you can't add, remove, make playable, ... the existing factions. But they can always suprise us.
Look on the second page. It says something like factions are playable after they have been defeated in the Imperial Campaign. That makes me think its only in the main campaign that they actually get unlocked in their entirety. The other thing could possibly just be Historic Campaigns, like the ones we already have in MTW.

They had better let us change the factions... I mean Scythia? Where's the Sarmatians? https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
