they just dissapear which is odd, my 18 year old daimyo (shimazo) had a 16 year old heir i gave him a unit, then i had anotehr son, after one year i check his status, he was gone, hmmmmm.

I ran into the same problem. Playing Shim had 5 heirs.... checked a few minutes later...and *poof* none listed. However, they still remained on the board and took care of things when I departed this earth.

Consider them "undercover"... officially, they do not exist, but when you need them, they've got your back.
I guess they are in hiding to avoid assassination.

maybe so, least hes still there i cant belive shimazo's starting daimyo is so darn young!
the reason why they dont show is if your original diamyo died (witch i assume cause ur diamyo 18 with 16 heir) and his son takes over all the heirs r no longer fathered... if u look at the icon with tall man and little boy eeeehhhh u put 2 n2 together and assume that aint his older bro.. go shimazu and tekeda

no he didnt die at all i started with a 16 year old daimyo (or 18) and his "son" or heir was 2 years behind then at 20 he had anotehr son (my daimyo) then poof gone, hmmm
so u started with a son 2 years yunger than u ...odd!?!?!

No thats not correct, his heir two years younger. The heirs can be your son, brother, cousin or even adopted.
In fact I think you will find in some Oda campaigns the Daimyo is like 32 and his brother is 34.
ya i found out a while ago that when the diamyo dies he picks the youngest eligible hier

did you put your heir in an army with your daimyo. cause i've lost heirs by them being killed in battle when they were in my daimyo's army.
