Nice screens Thanks for link https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif At last we see winter map and battle.
Btw, did you notice that Romans can command united army composed by units of different Roman families?

Maybe as a diplomatic option, other factions (or just other romans) can give you troops to attack a common enemy?

The green unit cards are for mercenaries, not the troops of other Roman factions. In this case, the General has some barbarian cavalry, barbarian infantry (with spears) and four units of peltasts (or peltast-class Illyrian mercenaries) in his otherwise exclusively Julii army.
And for those who are interested, the full list of units in the army is, starting top row, left to right:
general and bodyguard
town watch
triarii
velites
barbarian cavalry mercenaries
barbarian mercenaries
Roman archers
barbarian mercenaries
barbarian cavalry mercenaries
hastati
bottom row, l to r:
hastati x 5
town watch
Illyrian mercenaries (or mercenary peltasts) x 4
Nearly all of the units have taken casualties in previous battles, btw.
So is that '102' a significantly smaller number of the original unit size of a multiple of 5, like 105, 110, 120? Or are the units sizes not so nice? Or, are the '2' of 102 those guys who walk beside the unit and carry the flag, like the '1' in the kings unit in MTW?
Nevermind, you have filled your 1 post per month quotient, ill just have to wait and see https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Robin hood style
I wonder if you can bribe them off and ambush the enemy's army. That way you can weaken a enemy without going to war with him
ahh. well looks great but one problemos, too many mercs may be a problem. will the upkeep be like medieval for mercs, twics the normal? if so i can feel the merc rush/blitz being very popular https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Mercs are actually quite expensive, but they can be cool in giving you access to forces you wouldn't otherwise get: in my current Scipii campaign one general has an army with three hoplite units.
However, they aren't available everywhere, or in huge numbers. I was really chuffed when I managed to recruit a second unit of Cretan Archers. It took me a long time to track them down.
The Merc rush probably isn't going to work this time.

Good news Capt., thanks for stopping by and filling us in.
However, I have two quick questions relevant to your posts...
1) Has the AI finally learned to take advantage of mercenaries? In MTW you had a considerable advantage over the AI in that you could hire scores of mercs and the AI never (or almost never) did.
2) You mentioned battle casualties. Does the AI now replenish depleted units in the field? It would be nice to see the AI reinforce a depleted army by streaming fresh troops to its location.
Thanks https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I've got a set of questions too, although not as essential as the ones by Spino:
1. What do the small icons under a city's name exactly indicate? There have already been some some speculations based on another campaign-map screenshot but since we have a member of The Staff hanging around us lately we can take the chance to beg for some credible answer... https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
2. Why are the hoplites in this picture (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/rometotalwar/screens_6103424.html?page=1) wearing a "gallic"-type helmet (and one with a forehead protector indeed) like the ones worn by Trajan-era legionaires?
By the way, i apologise if this has already been answered in former threads as i had been away for a couple of weeks and didn't really keep up with the news.

Noticed a few cool things on the screenshots;
1. The battle shot happens as part of the battle intitiated via the 1st Camp. screenshot - look at the terrain and Roman unit types.
2. The second thing is that there is a waggon train traveling along the road thru Tarentum in the 2nd Camp. screenshot
Now I have a question - what are those "golden tower" things to the north in the 1st Camp. screenshot??
Overall, the Camp. map is a thing of beauty - even if the minimap is a bit "busy", IMO.
Barkhorn.
