R:TW will span into AD right? If so, doesn't that mean Jesus will appear? And as it was the Romans who put Jesus to death...

Now there's decision to make.

yeah you're right. But I do not remember how many years into AD. If it is only 14 or somethign, then, well, we wont make that decision

Some information;
1. The game ends in 14 AD (or CE if you prefer)
2. Jesus was a cult figure in Judea and his cult did not spread to other parts of the empire until the reign of Nero
3. Therefore, Jesus and by extension Christianity would mean NOTHING to the Roman's - or any other faction in R:TW

We're talking Pagans here people.

I believe the game ends in 14 AD so there probably won't be a Jesus event. He didn't become a headache for the local Jewish religious authorities until He was in his 30s. IIRC most scholars estimate Jesus was actually born between 8 and 4 BC.

I hope they include an option to use Roman timescale. It´s bad for the atmosphere if it says "we´re now 100 years before Christ". In addition that would mean counting backwards http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Aye, that would be awesome, instead of that crappy 216 b.c instead it is 537 after Romes founding http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif , but then again, for the casual wippersnappers that pick up the game because "Cool I can recreate Gladiator hyuck, hyuck" type of gamers, that would mean jack shit. Wich might unfortunatly very well be a majority of the people buying RTW http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Kids that say "OMG buy me that game it has flaming pigs and elephants1" are usually the kind of mentality that makes the most money for the developers of games.

rather true, but there were significant events mentioned in the Bible from his childhood, that dealt with him (his preaching/q&a with jewish scholars at the temple comes to mind). So, if you're just mentioning significant events, this could be one of them. It doesn't have to have an impact on the game per-say. There were some pretty useless events in MTW.

actually id kind of prefer it to count backwards in BC - no because i like the atmosphere but because it would allow Ancient Mods (such as HTW) to use ACTAUL dates rather than the contrived one we use

I guess that means that time will not stretch in to the gun powder age. It is a shame, I have enjoyed making custom battles using all gun weapons and cannons in MTW.

Considered that this game will focus on ROME, no, gun powder age will probably not be featured. But I´m quite sure there will be mods for that.

The Roman timescale will be used. So, since the year Rome was build and so on .. IIRC MikeB said this some time ago

Well, the game ends in 14 AD, so therefore it will also stretch in to AD period. So theoretically you could perhaps make the game stretch to, say, the 15-16th centuries AD.
