Posted this just before the other forum went down so appologies if someone already answered it. I probably crashed the other forum by searching through all the old threads for it http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

I found a page that said you could effectively dissable the AI Geisha as follows:

"Find building choice.txt in the Game folder The 15th Value is Geisha House, reduce the weighting to 0 or 1, For double protection from Geisha also change the 23rd value - Legendary Tea House.

authors :- Wavesword, Gothmog "

Problem is, this file doesn't exist in my vanilla STW directory. Do I need to install MI to get it? If I do, is it obvious which values are for BFN+Kensai so that I can dissable them as well?

I haven't worried about it before since I used to get to the end before the AI started producing them, but I'm a bit rusty. http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I think Sasaki Kijiro (?) said it was a MI file.

Yes it is MI only, should be easy to disable bfn and kensai as well, I've never had the AI train them in any case.

Thanks guys. I probably should have started out with MI anyway. I forgot how annoying the unit merging restriction is http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Haven't posted in a while or played Shogun, and never played
WE till now. Is it common experience in MI/WE to see much more aggressive AI building of Giesha's?

Just had a Uesegi one kill two heirs as Mori on hard, and now she's going for all my high level generals - nasty.

Thinking might turn it down per above, but not all the way off, curious to know how people commonly this.

i never turn geisha off,
(i play in expert mode)

and i only build One Geisha, she stays with my Daimyo,
(where do you think all those heirs come from eh?)

i deal with enemy geisha by building ninja houses wherever i have a castle and i am not building troops,
(do this from the start)
i build 2 or 3 ninja at each one and leave them there
(tactical reserve)
(also build port there if i can afford it)

as soon as a geisha appear i send every ninja i have after her and start building more ninja,
she dies sooner or later and it's a whole lot easier than expending a geisha to kill a geisha,

i have only ever had one geisha giving me trouble for a long time, and that was a faction that went rebel, there was this honour 4 rebel geisha running all over my provinces
- it was fun keeping my generals one step ahead until my ninja finally got her...
the only reason it took me so long was i did not have many ports - ninja had to walk a long way to get to her.

(i also build teahouse - can be handy having the capability to build a shinobi army at a moments notice to subdue conquered provinces)

cheers,
B.

barroca:

had done close to what you describe - always build a shinobi for every province (and border watch towers too) - instinctive now from playing MTW. Hadn't built as many
Ninja Houses - guess that'll have to change. As Mori am using the farm provinces or wastelands (Awaji, ect.) for the special troops build centers. Kind of messed up in current game by not killing the diplomats that Uesegi kept sending my way to train my ninjas up for your method.

Questions:
*Found, opened the pick buildings text file, and the values.
To turn down Geisha do you have to change values in all the Daimyo personality choices or just one - the "balanced" one?

*Am guessing manipulating how AI picks which personality is a matter of opening up and changing other files (bif, ect)?

General Comment:
Coming back to Total War series am impressed with the breadth and depth of the modding and getting into the program.

Swarm the map with Ninjas and go Geisha hunting... SHould they fail then you might want to sacrifice one of your own Geishas for the sake of dealing with the threat.
