View Full Version : R:TW demo
The demo release has been announced. There isn’t a specific release date, rather a ballpark of a few weeks. Information can be found at www.actiontrip.com in the headline section.
"The Rome demo will place you in charge of Carthaginian general Hannibal's army who famously crossed the Alps hoping to outflank the Roman forces.
Suddenly facing a huge army of Roman legionaries, you're both outnumbered and outgunned (or should that be out-sworded?), so you'll require a command of advanced Cavalry tactics and judicious use of your war elephants to finally prevail."

I'll believe it when I see it on the official site.

Nah they don't normally host files on the official site. I'll believe it when I see it on 3D downloads, or something similar. http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I think you meant the announcement. And, if so, I agree with you. Until then all this is just hearsay.

Thanks for the Heads up Shamus
Quote[/b] ]The good news is Creative Assembly's Michael de Plater confirmed that a Rome: Total War demo is now "just weeks away."
I took that from here actiontrip (http://www.actiontrip.com/#)

I've seen sites advertising demos of rtw (fakes) trying to get more people to visit, but this is the first time i've seen a site quote a dev. Oh well, in "a few weeks" we'll if this is real or not...

http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif I think we knew that it was going to be out in a few weeks anyway - near a month before release date is the best guess.

Well, in the MTW demo you got to play the battle at Acre, so it might be one of the better known battles in the RWT demo..... at least I hope so http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Errr...a game "source" reported that this was said. And, until I see a dev. post or an announcement is made on the .COM forgive me if I am a tad sceptical.

as you wish, it's just that we know it's coming (they released a demo of both STW and MTW), and now it's reported to have been stated on Activision's yearly happening
i just think you're being over-sceptical, imho

Yeah its fine to be skeptical. But how many things did gamestar report before you saw it on totalwar.com ? A few at least.

I'm so sceptical that I dont believe RTW will ever come. It's all humbug, all a lie, an evil lie to tease us gamers... arghh

OK - the admin at the .COM posted the following;
Quote[/b] ]I saw the thread that you were talking about, so yes we DO know that there WILL be a demo.
By the same token, Michael DePlater's saying "weeks" could mean anything from 2 weeks, to 4 weeks, to 6 or even 8 weeks. Personally, I don't believe it will be all that long, but anyone who was here during the Shogun days will certainly remember what "2 weeks" really means
Point being, we know we'll be getting a demo soon, and that's about the only thing that we know and didn't before.
So...I now consider this one confirmed - but I do wonder when exactly we will see it.

LOL remember that rome totalwar the full game is available in erm "weeks"
Where ever they post this demo for downloading, it's gonna be constipated big time with all of the traffic, so hyped has this game been. I hope they have plenty of mirrors.

Hehe, who remembers the months leading up to MTW's release? Darkmoor Dragon had an early build of the game and was pumped incessantly for information by us TW'ers......it got quite nasty at times http://212.238.194.39/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
As for the demo, with my 56k connection I reckon I'll just buy the issue if PC Gamer UK with it on (and rest assured, they will have it on their cover disks first).

Yeah, right, and the moon is full of Little Green Men, waiting for their turn to ride the Flying Saucer to a whorehouse in Montana :tomato:
The TRUTH is that an overblown (radically, here in Greece, like 5X the normal rate) phone bill and the nagging wife (because of that bill) are prime requisites to get DSL here.
I still got ISDN 64K... but then I d/load the stuff I really need with my job connection (with 200K/sec speeds and such).
Too bad my 14 months contract is out in the end of August... hope my next job has broadband too :jumping:

Actually, either your friends are among the local elites (or the hardcore nerds, who'll strip off their budget to have that superfast DSL :saint: ) or there is something reeeeally fishy going on with the local ISPs and phone service providers :eeeek: especially considering that Greece is supposed to be much higher on the "developed countries" list than any Eastern European country.
Well a DSL here costs around 35$ a month, how much for it in Greece?
