View Full Version : Creative Assembly Will there be client kingdoms in MTW?
A common "strategy" used in the ancient world was for a major power to have a bunch of semi-independent client kingdoms under its influence.
I wonder whether that feature is available in RTW. I envision a client kingdom to be a faction that gives you regular money (tribute), and contributes troops (levies) to your army and allows you troop passage. But you do not totally control it, and it can turn against you should your fotunes change.
Judging from the previews, such a diplomacy option does not appear to be available. Anyone knows more?

Yeah, that strategy was utilized by the Romans. They had lesser kingdoms submit to Rome. However, they were independant, the only condition that Rome would protect them was, that they provided man-power for the legions.
So this feature is a MUST imo

Well, you can demand tribute and help in war. I guess when you`re strong enough, it`s quite possible to intimidate smaller kingdoms.

It is possible to bully/encourage/persuade a faction into becoming a client kingdom in Rome: Total War. You can offer them protectorate status.
Sweet, I can finally help out my buddies without needing to fight whole wars for them.

Seems to be impossible in MTW ~:mecry:
But RTW seems better to that ~;)
Perfect to do that to your defeated enemies.
Is it possible to encourage the comp to actully sign peace with you after a certain level?
I simply find it stupid to not signing peace when you got 20k+ enemies at the border and when you got a peace-offering from him.

Awesome. I hope this means you can also recruit and command their units in your army. Would be cool to be Mark Anthony and then command Cleopatra's chariots against the Seleucids [Disclaimer to history buffs: I think the Seleucids were conquered by Pompey before Mark Anthony's time, but in the game everything's possible]

isn't there another word for Kings that give protection/trade etc etc. for a country that doesn't have much to offer besides loyalty? I forget the word....

This option is going to add a whole new world to our strategy now. I am very excited about this feature. I can't wait to use poor little weak factions as my buffer states and punching bags. When you are done using them for what they are worth, then you can crush them! Muhahahaha

Not at all; there are giant Klingons in MTW. The little known cheat code .dilithiumcrystals. enables them in all eras. Until you've seen Gothic Klingon Crusader Foot Knights charging into the rear of peasants, you haven't lived. Not that they are invincible of course: flaming pigs work even better against giant Klingons than against elephants.
I hope the demo comes out soon. Some of us are close to cracking.

Flaming Pigs against Klingons? No they'd just eat them...
We need a unit of Tribbles, They'd go nuts against them! ~:joker:
