I noticed in my recent game as the Danes that Denmark claims to give +1 valour to all Longboats made there. My first question is: is valour on boats the number of stars it has when you right-click on it? Also, my Denmark doesn't always give the bonus. I made many Longboats there and only about 25% came out with one 'star' on them.

Is it broken, or have I misunderstood? ~

I don't know what it does either. The valour bonus definitely does not convert into stars. Stars for Admirals seems to rely more on the influence and rank of your King.

The only thing I can see that the valour bonus is good for is to make the AI build boats in those provinces. Giving a province a valour bonus will make the AI build towards that unit almost exclusively so at least the AI will build boats somewhere.

You cannot see valour of ships but I do have a feeling that the bonus does have an effect as I can remember about 80 percent of my fleet was built in a plus 1 valour province and I would crush the A.I. in naval battles all the time. I never needed the big stacks of ships to ensure security as I would just sit there and laugh as the A.I. would try to pluck off ships and just lose about 90 percent of the battles because you know how the A.I. drools over solo ships. There was no sense in stacking the ships either as this would just make the A.I. run away and most of the time I did'nt even have to bother attacking the A.I. unless if I knew it was crucial seazone.
